I live in Vegas. I've lived here for 50 years. This is truly a very sad day for our city. The community is pulling together and over 2,000,000.00 has been raised on a go fund me page to help pay for family members expenses, funerals, etc. Some of the hotels have given free rooms to family members coming into town. Everyone is trying to pull together. I don't understand what would drive a person to do this. It's a tragedy that should not have happened.My heart and prayers go out to all the families, friends and loved ones.

Rob .... Machine guns or whatever automatic weapon he used are just as illegal in the US as they are in England. The only people that have them are criminals just like Europe. I am a grandmother from Texas. I have never heard of anyone around here just shooting someone. We don't carry machetes, some do carry knives but there are a lot of ranchers that need those things. One side of the political arena are just making more of the cc than necessary. Now in Chicago there is a gun problem, there are killings everyday but guns are banned so naturally only the criminals have them. About this shooter in Vegas, Reuters and RT are saying he recently joined isis. In time we will get to the truth but it seems an old guy like that (not that 64 is that old) but he looked more on the weak side than a body builder --- anyway, I don't see how he could have lugged the automatic weapons and probably at least 300 lbs of ammo to his room so since I think it's not likely and the police are way ahead of me at figuring this sort of thing out, the story could be more like he was radicalized with helpers or he opened his door and was a hostage. His house will have answers to the latter. But don't think we are running around shooting at each other just because some of the guys cc.

In the US it is illegal to have an automatic firearm and the rules on owning one are very strict : no criminal record etc. The shooter went out of his way to buy a gun either through him having no flags and hiding his terrible ideas or he bought it illegaly from the black market. Also automatic firearms are illegal and the weapon was ILLEGALY converted to automatic so this gun is classed as illegal in every developed country. So no America hasn't got a problem with gun control as the shooter's firearm was illegal also doesn't every background check system have loopholes? This guy probably never got arrested in his life so he could go out and buy one. EDIT : The shooters brother even said that the shooter didn't have a criminal record and nothing wrong with him

Oisín Lynch I'm not sure if the city police have automatic weapons they might only have semi automatic weapons but extraction teams and counter terrorist units like SWAT and Seal Team Six have automatics. But if law enforcement has automatic rifles then each of their officers who carry them have to have a class 3 licence and that is very hard to get there's way more background checks and they don't give a lot out to civilians only to law enforcement and people who need automatic rifles. Also it's different if the police have automatic weapons as they will not harm innocents unlike gangs which are likely to have a war to get better guns

I SEEN ON A SOURCE ON THE INTERNET THAT 30 FBI CHECKED IN TO THE HOTEL TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT! FUNNY HOW THE FBI WAS REQUESTING THAT ALL VIDEOS BE TURNED UNTO THEM , PROBABLY TO DESTROY EVEDENCE! I read on line, a Saudi prince owned the top floor of Mandalay Bay Hotel, he was supposed to be there on that knight. That's why the helicopters were buzzing and security for the Prince. Some eyewitness seen a helicopter picked up someone from the hotels roof top just before the shooting? Paddock or his team were supposed assassinate the Prince, that's why all the guns found in his room,. but they were discovered. 11 FBI agent checked into the hotel a day before, there was lot of security inside. Gun man was going down, good as dead, so decided to take as many people with him as possible! Take it with a grain of salt! Maybe just conspiracy theory?

This is an utterly tragic loss of life which was entirely preventable, and rightly so the focus in these early stages is on the victims and their families. However; this one time, I wish Theresa May had used the opportunity to express the views of the British people on the positively ludicrous American gun legislation. I seem to recall Mr Trump being rather vocal and making some ill-informed incendiary comments after our recent terrorist attacks here in Britain... The least she could have done would have been to offer Mr Trump some carefully considered words of wisdom from one civilised country to another on his countries' ridiculous gun rights policies.

If ISIS claims ten we can't rule that out I have a theory which may be unlikely. Paddock didn't shoot anyone but instead stayed at the strip in that hotel room while ISIS followers breached his room and had many guns on them on the intent to kill innocents and blame paddock. He was then shot to make it look like a suicide and the ISIS soldiers left without a trace. Although unlikely it does make u think. Could it be possible if one of the most noturious terrroist groups on the planet claims responsibility, it may be infact true. Like paddocks brother said he didn't have any known motive.
