I agree, but people have been influenced by media and false stories. If someone asks me what breed my dog is I avoid telling them it is a pitbull as the majority would have a very weird reaction and get scared by the word even if seconds ago they stroke the dog and cuddled with her.

Glad the little girl is okay. The fact that the dog had killed a cat and attacked it's owner just 3 months prior yet nothing was done about it is absurd, this incident could've been easily preventable if they had put the dog down sooner.

Unfortunately, people do not value the lives of cats like they do dogs. If the mauling of the cat and the attack on the owner was taken seriously, that poor baby wouldn’t have had to suffer and her brother wouldn’t be traumatized. The fact is that most dogs don't want to fight no matter what their breed is. Read "The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption" by Jim Gorant. Of the 51 dogs rescued from a fighting ring, 2 had to be put down due to health/trauma issues; 22 found loving homes where they never showed aggression towards anyone.

absolutely. Yes it's the owner's fault. Owners need way harsher penalties for not just abuse and neglect but raising viscous dogs. But the dogs in these cases cannot be adopted out ever. They have to be euthanized. We can't risk people being mauled or killed. Adopting out one of these dogs because of a neglectful owner is like saying we need to let the criminal go because he had bad parents. In the US, there are rescues who think they can save dogs like this. They will lie about their history. A woman's mother was killed a few years ago when she unknowingly adopted a pitbull who was dangerous. The shelter lied to her. The dog killed her mother the same day she brought it home.

The dogs were held at multiple locations, so they had a lot of officers to ensure a wide coverage. They didn't know how aggressive or calm the dogs would be, and so took precautionary measures. The officers weren't aggressive or violent towards the dogs.

Problem is, who decides what breed is "dangerous" ? In some cases, many people would agree but there is a huge gray area & many dogs don't behave like some people think is inherent to any given breed. Does someone get attacked because the dog is a certain breed, or because some moron trained the dog to attack people? When I was 12 my 8 year old cousin was attacked by a stray German Shepard. He was nearly killed. At that age I only had a .22 so I had to shoot the dog 10 times to stop it. Now, I have a German Shepard that we are training to be an assistance dog. After some initial training she understood that we want her to help us. Now she is being overly helpful. We trained her to pick up things we drop. Now, if I toss something in the trash, she brings it back to me. lol Thirty five years ago my cousin was attacked by the same breed of dog that is now helping us around the house. Is it the breed, the individual dog, or is it the environment the dog grew up in? Some breeds are predisposed to certain behaviors but that's really a minor factor. What it really comes down to is the owner. Is the owner responsible? Do we condemn a breed because lots of criminals choose that breed & are not responsible owners? Would we ban red cars if red became popular with criminals & there were more accidents involving red cars due to irresponsible owners?

skully, the cutting of the ears are typical in their home country Turkey, and has been done for hundreds of years....It's done so that when they are protecting livestock against wolves,bears etc that the ears are not vunerable to attack, and profuse bleeding out. Also other livestock protection breeds such as the Alabai" ears are cut at birth for this reason.

They never DID anything! These dogs have not done something dangerous. In these cases, they're being reported just for BEING alive and being of a banned breed. Not for anything the dogs did. Also, in cases with the dog biting, it's the human's fault 99.9% of the time. Because humans don't know know how to read dog body language, and how to do proper interactions with dogs. More potential dog-guardians, or even current ones, need to know how to read their dogs body language better.

Personally my dog lives a better life then many human beings do.. he isn't just a dog he is part of the family. He doesn't live outside in a small kennel in the cold like these dogs do. My dog is fed the best food. He infact an American Akita 68kg has the run of the house.. these people are cruel and evil and should be banned from keeping dogs for life.. also the dangerous dogs act is outdated. Its proven that pits need lots of touching and affection, the pits who don't get that do tend to be more aggressive. My dogs brother lives with my cousin, he's not a good owner and his dog is so aggressive cause he gets very little interaction . It's sad.

The dangerous dogs act is bullshit and should be abolished. Any dog can be dangerous, yes certain breeds can do more damage but why not ban breeds like Rottweilers and Staffies? Yes if a dog has attacked before or is a danger and the necessary action is to put the dog to sleep then fine, but a dogs breed should not be listed as a cause of risk. I remember hearing the story about the two pit bulls who attacked that girl on the news, I'm so glad that she survived. But again the issue with that dog was that it had attacked before, and again if the dogs were Rottweilers for example the damage would have been almost the same. We need to focus on getting actually dangerous dogs off our streets (and rehabilitating them if at all possible) instead of waisting police and vet resources on destroying animals unnecessarily because of their breed.

The punishments for these scumbags should be raised significantly. They should suffer significant jail terms and massive fines with asset forfeiture. Experienced a dog attack in March 2023, it is a very scary experience. The dog was on a long lead but its owner couldn't hold it, the dog was too strong for him. The dog pulled him at least 16-20 feet towards my cockapoo, has it went to attack my dog, I went down. Another lady that I was talking too at the time put her body over my dog to save him. Then she went down too due to the dog trying to get to my dog to kill him. The man managed to pull his dog that was a rescue from a friend of his, s few feet away, far enough for me to help the other woman up. Then the dog was trying to attack again, and the man put his body over the dog, as we were moving away. Has he walked off, he apologised, I told him that it is a dangerous dog. He replied that he wasn't. I reported it to the police and they didn't do anything about it. I still suffer from an injury to my arm and now I'm very weary of all staffordshire type bully mix breeds. I'm pleased that the XL Bullies have been banned and hope that they're phased out quickly. Alas, the puppy websites are still advertising sale of them. It is a miracle that little girl survived.
