Your right, Uncle Joe sent billions to Ukraine while here in America we get record high inflation, high gas prices, food is unaffordable, rent is insanely high etc. The crime in inner cities is also out of control, especially in New Orleans. As a Floridian who has been through numerous hurricanes and threats of one ,its common for people to not be able to afford to evacuate...especially if you live in the Keys. The price of gas alone to get out and come back is very expensive on top of the price of a hotel room for days unless you know someone you can stay with for free. There was one year around 2004-2005 where we spent over $500 to evacuate and lost a week wages on the process.

I have 2 great-grandsons, ages 7 and 8 yrs old, on Pine Island on the southern tip. At this moment, the eye of Hurricane Ian is directly over them. Pine Island is due west of Cape Coral & Ft. Myers FL. To say I'm concerned is an understatement!

When you look at force of nature and know you are helpless. I watched my school burn down. And I knew what was in there (luckily no people), how many things I wished I could have saved, but couldn’t. The fire was eating years of our work before our eyes and we couldn’t do anything. Firemen could not pour water fast enough. I know these were just things, but still: somebody is looking at that little house and thinking: goodbye forever!

I have many relatives there-on my Mother's side & I myself was born there, but only lived there as a baby until my parents moved, but we visited every July until I became an adult-last time I was in FLORIDA was in 2018 & we had a great time being on the beach & visiting our aunts & cousins! It's the most beautiful & gorgeous place on earth in my personal opinion, but I would love to go to Ireland, as I have Irish, English, Scottish & Dutch in my bloodline as well! An absolute disaster is exactly right. It’s been five months now since Ian & there isn’t one person that I have spoken to or know Who is not still affected by it. Many of my friends are living elsewhere until their homes are livable. Every single person you talk to has their story & they are all horrible stories. I was born in Florida & as a child to adulthood we visited relatives there every year in July-And last time I was there was in 2018! We flew there & had a great time with relatives & being on the beach! Prayers out for Florida from Canada we recently had Fiona in the maritimes which was nasty but even just this one is clearly terrible. Hoping the damages are minimal with those that come with said kind of storm. Good luck.

I live in St Pete and the fb group I belong to has shared a video of a user that recorded what the water in the bay looked like, it was depleted. A few news sources have stated that the water was being pulled south from Tampa area and directed towards Fort Meyers.

@@mcdeigo Yeah Dooley. So unfortunate so many trumpist Floridians can't do math, and lack common sense. A CAT 4 hurricane 🌀, which is winds up to 155 mph, 157, is a CAT 5 ! So, 155 mph winds, 10ft to 18 ft storm surge, and an estimated rainfall of 12in to 22in is expected, along with that 18ft wall of water. I was posting that info in hopes Floridians would not chose to ride out the hurricane. Anyone living in a single level dwelling, doing the math, would see it would/could be a deadly decision. I understand trumpers there, and other states, expressed desire to murder all Democrats, but as a human, following and tracking this beast of a hurricane, I really wanted to warn my fellow Americans about this storm. The mb level, told me it was going to a beast. And it was. Some Floridians didn't take the projected numbers seriously. Single story dwellings, not seeking shelter, found themselves spending the night, last night, on the roofs of their S.D. homes, waiting till whenever it would be safe for rescuers to come and rescue them. These people had zero respect for first responders/ rescuers, as they could have gone to shelter. Math would inform such a decision. 20ft is above many single story dwellings. One shows disregard for the lives of rescuers, when, given the warning, and opportunity to seek shelter, they chose to stay put, and ended up needing to be rescued. Rescuers had to wait until the winds were down below 40 mph, before they could fly. Still, it would be dangerous. And for those people stranded on their roofs, it's really terrible, if they can't care about their own lives, they could at least not have their choice to ignore all warnings, endanger others, who'd have to risk their lives, for someone who couldn't respect anyones. So far, there's been no loss of life. Which is amazing, considering how destructive this storm was. Hopefully, it stays that way. The Barrier Islands, used to be one long piece of land made the island 🏝️. It's 3 separated pieces of land now. And there were people who disregarded the order to evacuate, that stayed behind on that island. Structures most all gone. And it's in 3 parts now. Don't know the status of those who selfishly chose to stay. If you don't want to respect your own life, at least respect the lives of those who would have to risk theirs, to save yours. Seems like the human thing to do.
