One of the predators I knew as a kid was an LDS dentist. He'd already been caught touching kids and lost dental license but was dating a family member I lived with as a minor. A Utah family court judge was fine with this. ? ! Extreme measures were taken to cover up and I already got punished for truthtelling to help a fellow relative. I'm staying mum about the whole story until I have documentation. Helluva task but I really need to do something good.

My mom’s dentist assaulted her while she was partially under nitrous oxide. She was too afraid to tell anyone until decades later.

That’s so awful. There was an episode of The Golden Girls about this subject, which makes me think the writers were trying to raise awareness of the risk.

As a former Organic Chemistry tutor at a Utah university, I saw these types of people with egos so big that they barely for in the room, who wanted to be doctors just for the $$$ and prestige, but who couldn't score high enough on the MCAT, so they went to dental school instead. No big surprise.

Even the church (leadership) knows the hearts of people, why elsewould they put locks on the lockers in the temple, the place where you should be able to forget the world, just lock up your valuables.

All the lockers for our clothes have locks in the temples and we were cautioned to take Nothing valuable inside! Im out !! Choose To Resign CTR

Oh I did have a friend in the practice and one weekend his whole family up and left the state. He was my family dentist. Never found out what happened or why. But very odd

In the past it was very easy for prescribers to write prescriptions to family members or themselves. Not so easy now with electronic monitoring. Wow these guys are so shady

oh my… i knew ryan ulibarri the dentist in ft collins… and his wife growing up… his wifes dad was jailed for tax evasion ( her dad was a well know chiropractor in farmington new mexico) ryan was from a small town trailer park in kirtland nm. this story blew my mind. but not surprised.

My old branch president was a dentist. Makes me wonder if he was involved in illegal schemes. I think he's retired now but i don't know.

Wild stuff happens in Fairbanks. We were also in that stake for quite some time. When we left they just made a guy from another part of the stake a counselor in the branch we were in. The guy recently was released from federal prison for a plot to kill federal judges. I believe in repentance and forgiveness, but care should be taken when those with difficulties making questionable choices in the past should not be in leadership positions. They can be building coordinators or print programs, but they should not be involved with others in a leadership capacity.
