Special Report: The Sultana Shipwreck

Less than one percent of Americans have heard of the Sultana Shipwreck, a disaster believed to have killed up to 1,800 people.

Glad to hear that plan to do more in honor of the Sultana. I'm not 100% proof positive at this point but believe I had a relative lost on the ship. Thank you.

Great vid, such a needless tragedy that costed people their lives. It would be great if the Sultana's wreck could be found.

I don’t thinks it’s found because it was in the 1800s and it’s wood so it would of been np so wet until it broke apart

@@Funny_jokeman108 Yep. And she sunked in the river, not ocean. If it Titanic that sunk in the river in that same time, there would be nothing to look for except maybe toilet fixtures but they can be all over the riverbed for miles, not in one big area like they are now. .

As I recall, they did find recently what are believed to be the remains of Sultana...just half-melted wrecked machinery and other metal fittings...under a cornfield. Because of silting and changes in the course of the river, the wreck site is now dry land and privately owned.

It’s fairly common knowledge that the Titanic was an Olympic class Liner
