I'm a 14 year old from India, I remember when I was 9 I saw Phillip Hughes batting in India in a cricket match ever since then I always remembered him but would always forget his first name I would only remember "Hughes" I din't watch him play much I din't recognize him frequently but the impact that his death has left on me feels like I've just lost a loved one. I've loved cricket all my life I've grown up playing and being a die heart fan for India but in the current test match for the first time ever my heart goes with Australia and wishes that they win so they gain strength and feel that their mate Hughesy is with them always. When I read the news first that a bouncer struck him and the critical condition he was in, I got tense in those 2 days every moment I would search about him to get some good news and all then on November 17th I came home from school searched about him there was no new news about him. I was tired and as I closed my eyes I fell asleep. I waked up it was about time my dad was gonna come home from work I refreshed the pages where I was reading about Phillip I did not close them when I fell asleep I saw that he died... It was one of the worst feelings I felt like crying I felt nervous and it was just too terrifying my dad came home he too felt bad about the passing of such a nice cricketer. I put my bats out I prayed for him and will continue to do so its the love of cricket that got me so attached with Phillip Hughes may his soul Rest In Peace and may cricket continue being as united and loving each other just like this RIP Phill we always loved you and will continue loving you.

Phillip Hughes was dropped again and again from the test team and each time told by the selectors to work on something new. He always put his head down and worked on what he was asked to do. The first time he got dropped he went all the way to ask Sachin Tendulkar for advice. The second time he got dropped he gave up a six figure contract to play BBL so he could play club cricket in Sydney and work on his technique. The last time he got dropped was a test after he scored 81* in a record partnership with Ashton Agar. Ed Cowan got 18 tests in a row from the selectors. He had a worse test record than Hughes. Doolan, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell. They all have worse test record than Phillip Hughes. But the selectors held Hughes to a higher standard because they knew he was a higher talent. He'd fix his technique up bit by bit and make his comeback later- just like Langer, just like Hayden, just like Martyn. He was 25. We all thought he'd have the time to work on his technique and make it to the next level and finally become the great player he was always going to become. He would have got that chance against India this summer.

First of all , Ponting ruined his career , he only failed in 2 innings and shitty ponting dropped hughes for that shitty watson in Ashes 2009 before that Hughes hit an awesome back to back centuries and 75 odd vs SA that Helped Aus to win the series but later on ponting dropped him in ashes for his friend watson ,since then he was in & out of the team , there was nothing wrong in his technique , he's got most amazing style of batting , all fell in love with his batting , the selectors are always corrupt and senseless, they only select those who are told to by the Captain , Philip hughes was way better than Hayden Langer and dozens of players like ed cowan , marsh , watson warner ,alex dollan

I'm shocked by the effect it's had on me. I can't recall ever feeling this sad - especially not knowing him personally. I hadn't ever had a favourite player until I started following Phil Hughes in the 2008/9 Shield season. His battles were mine. Each night after work, I'd switch on Cricinfo to see if he was succeeding, as my routine of unwinding. I'd tell my friends 'my favourite player just made a hundred'. Even though none of them were cricket followers, it didn't matter to me. I railed at his failures and urged him on to new heights, believing from my observations, that he was blessed with greatness. I grew up in a profoundly abusive house, that didn't allow me the licence of 'liking' or associating. Everything was isolation and distance. This was my opening declaration of allegiance to a player's success. I'm 48 and wondering if all such allegiances gone wrong, hurt this much, especially as he died playing the hook shot - someone else's game and not that with which he first graced the Test stage, SA 2009 with such uncomplicated imagination - a Boys Own Annual adventure hero. We all have moments when we feel the weight of outliving our heroes. This is one such moment. RIP dear Hughesy - RIP

Phillip was a true blue Aussie from the country Who wanted to play for Australia and that's what he did. It's funny what happens when people actually chase their dreams and look where Phil got, He made the Australian test and one day team. He was absolute fighter that never gave up and he broke records. He was taken at the wrong time at only 25 years old. I got to see him play for the Adelaide Strikers and he never gave up through the tough time. #RIPPHILLIPHUGHES WE WILL MISS YOU MATE!!!!!!

Only the good die young. I'm sure all of us will never forget where we were when we heard the terrible news. That's the kind of effect that Phillip had on people who didn't even know him; a great man. Do we call all future Brisbane, Adelaide, or Sydney Test Matches the Phillip Hughes Test? He deserves no less. If he was alive and any other bowler was faced with the crisis that Sean Abbott was facing now, there is no doubt that he would be doing all that he possibly could to comfort them, and Sean Abbott needs to realise (however difficult it is for him to do so) that this was by no means his fault. Also, Cricket Australia, you have done a remarkable job in organising these tributes and dealing with what anyone would consider unexpected circumstances (to say the least) . Rest in Peace, Hughsey; one of Cricket's and Earth's good guys. It just isn't fair.

10 years ago today this great young cricketer in the making was taken from not just Australia, but the world. There’s a reason he was called the little Don. Getting his first two centuries in just his second Test at the age of 20 against a bowling lineup consisting of Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Makhaya Ntini, Jacque Kallis and Paul Harris. That century on ODI debut against a good Sri Lanka side at the MCG that I would see is arguably one of the best ODI centuries to watch. He got dropped a lot, but he fought back hard and refined his technique and temperament each time. He put together one last great innings of 200 against South Africa A in a List A match at Darwin before he was taken from us in the middle of what could have been the innings that put him back into the test side for the 2014/2015 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India that could have catapulted him to the great cricket he showed he could one day be. But more than all of this, the greatest tragedy was that a young great Australian in the making who embodied so much of the country was taken from us. Our country is much poorer culturally today because Phillip Hughes isn’t alive. He would have been someone everyone in this country could have looked up to for guidance, particularly considering how pathetic our political leaders have been in the time since his passing. May the great young man from Macksville forever remain in our hearts, rest in peace and rest on 63 not out* ❤️

As a Sri Lankan, I watched the entire South African series in which phil made his test debut. He's success in the second innings and the entire second and third tests felt so good and right, just felt good to have a humble young bloke succeed. Since hearing about his accident and demise, I can't stop thinking about that boy who made an impression on me playing his first test series. I've learnt more about the person phil Hughes over the last few days and it's actually made me like him more and feel the loss in a more acute way. Wow what a sad moment in cricket history. You will never be forgotten. RIP Phillip Hughes

Phillip passed away doing what he loved and he will always be remembered. And.. Let's not forget the 22 year old Sean Abbott. I hope has the strength to come out of this tragic incident. It was a freak incident and I hope more importance is given to safety gear of players from here.

Gut wrenching sad. We all though he would pull through. He was a fighter on the pitch, but such a humble young man. RIP Phil Hughes.
