I like how diverse the voice actors are and how the show they're voicing in is so progressive as a cartoon. The show involves LGBTQ+ relationships but at the same time it's not the main focus and they do a good job of normalizing it. Like things are only weird when it's perpetuated that way in society and I love how they're normalizing it because the things kids watch really do impact the way they perceive the world in the future. Plus SU is just filled with so many positive themes like women empowerment and it's also great just seeing the development of the characters and how they essentially represent humanity: flawed, imperfect, but always capable of self growth and change. And don't even get me started on how great Rebecca sugar is she seems so down to earth and it's great that she lets the artists be expressive and free in the story board. Man I use to think western cartoons weren't capable of such developed plots, but my perception completely changed when I found out about Steven universe. This show definitely ranks as high as Daria in my book.
