I've watched a few videos of this guy, but just enough to know that he loves trolling ruby.😏 It's even funnier when he doesn't laugh or doesn't say he's joking.

“Need to nerd” is right. At my job we’re dealing with a bunch of technology vendors and trying to coordinate it all. So many to learn!

I think specializing is important if you're a sole business. you can bang out projects much quicker, build up a reputation as the _____ guy, your pricing will be more accurate. Maybe if you gain a solid customer base you can start to offer graphics design, video production, or IT. Those are very different businesses though so you'll have to manage it well and probably need employees

Let the market guide you. Can't hear it enough. Learning CSS well for layouts I am wondering if I should concentrate on doing things in a semantic manner or a Bootstrap way of doing things. I plan on WordPress kind of business ... can't decide. Guess I will have to jump in the real world to find out.

Very true..but in today's it industry, companies expect too many things/technologies from devs...you can check job requirements.. That's why this situation happens "Jack of all.. but.."

I have a feeling that I'm spreading myself too thin all over the place. I can't wait to see what brings me the most money as wells as satisfaction so I can get rid of everything else. But as of now, I feel like I'm having a slow death by 1000 cuts and that nothing is moving forward.

I've been teaching myself to code for almost 2 years now. Progress seems like it's verry slow and it will be that way until your take the leap into finding your first job. That first job is where you really start learning. Before your first job it's about teaching yourself the basics of programming, not a language specifically. All the basics transfer to every other language, it's just different syntax and libraries. Once your know the basics of what programming is then you can figure out where you wanted to take it. Web, mobile, maybe you want to learn c/c++ and go beyond what higher level languages can do. Just figure out what you want to do then figure out what the best tool for that job is. I'll try to break it down. Front end web development: HTML, CSS and JavaScript are a must. Back end web development: literally almost any language. Java, Python, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, there is no real wrong answer here but back end is where you need to start picking up frameworks and learn either SQL or noSQL. Mobile development: objective c or swift for apple and Java or Kotlin for Android (Python will soon be possible and kinda is already possible for android) Desktop development (desktop applications): again objective for apple or c# for windows And then there's the hard stuff... Applications from the ground up (operating systems, game engines, game developments, any of the hardware dependant programs really): c/c++. This is a must (other low level languages are out there but no where near as popular) so you can talk with the computer at a hardware level. The hard part is figuring out what you wanna do

@@xKhfan213x my hands are in different cookie jars: music, print on demand, youtube, web-based services. I have "known" what I wanted to do for life since I was 6, the problem is that it has not paid off financially in a way that I want, so I am looking to alter things. As I said, will be pushing with what I already do, then whatever seems more of my thing, stick to that.

What fundamentals do you suggest each programmer should have. I think I have the basics since I've been a developer for a long time but it doesn't hurt to know. For example is data structure & algorithms necessary for each developer?

One thing I have wondered about for a while now is, I often try to write code that I believe is well planned out, however ends up becoming more difficult to maintain as clients add numerous requirements (Which involve a lot of weird or silly changes) with strict deadlines. How can someone improve in writing good scaling and easily maintainable code. (Currently Junior Dev transitioning into Intermediate)

He Stefan, do you respond to your comments at all? I thought at first that you weren't active anymore until I see this video get posted. On another video, I asked you about your Web Development course. I see that you created it in 2015. Have you updated it since? And will there be some issues with it perhaps being outdated? Or no?
