I serviced that same futureshock mechanism on a friend's Roubaix. I wished I'd never agreed to do it. You got it back together a whole lot easier than I did - the needle rollers were a tight enough fit that they wouldn't slide and had to roll their way in, so the relative starting positions of the inner, outer and nylon bearing sleeve components had to be just right for it to go back together. That took many attempts and lots of grease. It nearly got launched into orbit at one stage! It went back together perfectly once I'd sussed it out (and mine had exactly the same polished/wear patterns on the inner component). When I gave the bike a test ride, while it was working as designed, the lack of connection that the bouncy front end gives left me wondering what the hell Specialized are playing at - talk about solving a problem that didn't exist! I would never buy such a bike - it felt horrible to ride and is a long term maintenance nightmare. I feel similarly about Trek's IsoSpeed seat tube pivot on my Domane Disc which had slowly been corroding away due to poor protection from water ingress. Bikes do not need more moving parts - just engineer them right in the first place. Tiny bearings and UK winter weather and road salt just make for problems. My Canyon Ultimate with the split seatpost delivers just as much ride compliance as the Domane, with none of the technical nonsense. I'm enjoying all your videos - it could almost be me doing them given the way you go about a service and the care you take on all the small details.

any light to medium density high quality grease will do. but don't attempt this work unless you are 100% confident in your abilities its not for the faint hearted that job!

We only do videos on bikes we get in in the shop so who knows if we’ll get one in again, in terms of tools if you’re an avid bike mechanic you’ll have the tools and if you’re not an avid bike mechanic this is a big job worth taking to a shop!🧡

What did you do to get the brakes better without bleeding them?

You can't get rid of brake sponginess without bleeding the brakes, there's air trapped inside and you need to get it out.

Hi brilliant video once again how exactly did you manage to shorten the lever pull on the brake levers thanks

5:00 without the wheel in, give the leavers a couple of gentle pulls (not a full pull) observe the pads as you do this to make sure you don’t pop out the calliper pistons until the cap between the pads is reduced a little. The refit the wheel

Is this “new” Futureshock just the same as Cannondale’s “Headshok” from decades ago?

No idea! I’ve never had the Cannondale variant in to service.
