On this 40 mile ride, I'm testing out the Smart Control setting on the Specialized Mission Control App to see how it works and to show my experiecne of using this mode. The Smart Control feature adjusts the power of the motor to ensure a given battery capacity is retained.

Hi Sarah, climbing Longdown is a bit of a drag I know, but racing down it is so much fun. I did however get the KOM on Longdown just last week @ 9:34 I was well chuffed. We are blessed to ride in such a beautiful part of Devon, and we are not short of a hill or two to climb. 🤣 Take care Sarah and many thanks for watching and happy riding. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

Hi Jimmy, Thank you for your kind words it really means a lot to me. The Smart Control setting is something that I really don’t use, in fact that was my first and last time. I will however give it another go when the weather gets a little warmer and I go for a longer ride. So stay tuned, but I really don’t know what the benefits are going to be for me. Many thanks for watching and happy riding. Take care ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

Hi Paul, like you said there’s always a head wind riding the Exeter ship canal cycle path. Apparently I’ve heard some cyclists have experienced a tail wind riding that route, but I’m not lucky. You take care of yourself and thanks for watching. 😂🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

Interesting video. Has me questioning my plan to ride 80 miles using the Smart mode on my Turbo Tero E-MTB. I think a trial outing using it first may be on the cards. Thanks for sharing. Love the look of your bike.

Hi buddy, it’s all about learning and it’s capabilities, so I haven’t given up with the Smart Control setting yet, like you I have some long distance adventures planned, 100 miles + so I’m going to be giving it another go, and also using the range extender this time. So that should be interesting as there will be a huge amount of climbing as well as distance. Many thanks for watching, enjoy your epic adventures on your mtb and take care. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

I have a 2020 Como 4 and have no problems. I think when you first opened the app, it wasn’t in the right initial setting. You should have seen a 0% on the remaining climb. You should have had to program that piece too. When mine is funky like that, I shut down the app and reopen it. You should be getting assist right from the start. I haven’t been able to switch back and forth during a ride, so that’s nice. I hope you figure it out because it’s amazing. I ALWAYS program my rides so I know I won’t ever run out of battery.

Thanks for recording this. I haven't tried the Smart setting (yet), not sure it really helped with anything other than ensure you had battery remaining at the end of your ride. I live in a very hilly area, which is one reason I got the Creo, and I do need the help on the hills.

Hi Michelle, At first I didn’t really know how beneficial the smart control setting would be for me for future rides. But I will give it another go, now I understand it a little better, especially on some long summer rides, I can’t wait for warmer weather. You must be laughing like me climbing the hills with ease, the creo is an absolute amazing bike. I just bought one of these (well the aluminium version with the simpler control panel) I collect it later this week, but I dont think I will bother with this, I intend to ride it unassisted till I need some help on climb and swith on the assistance manually using the remote buttons they are fitting for me. It looks like too much hassle for my liking, I have always ridden quite heavy bikes and am quite fit in any case, I will just use it manually, I probably wont even try it, well maybe like you, once, thanks for the vid, looking forward to collecting the Creo this week

Hi Vaughanb, you will love this bike it’s so much fun, I still smile when climbing the hills it’s just awesome. The bar remotes are a must have and I’m happy to hear you are having them fitted. They really do make a big difference to your ride, because you don’t need to look down for example so it a safer option. Many thanks for watching and happy cycling, good luck with your new bike. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

A fine video once again, lovely scenery. Where was that stretch of water near the end where you said the tides out? Looked like an estuary or harbour. Nice to know you got up the hills without the Smart assist. You probably just had some teething problems with it. I'm sure you'll have it sussed soon. All the best..😊

Hey! that was a nice ride! 😍 I haven't had a ride on my new Creo yet! Still Winter here in Ontario Canada but I think another 4 weeks and we should get some decent weather and hopefully some rains to wash all this salt off the roads. I'm so curious to try all of this once I can actually ride the bike. I will ask one guy in my bike club who's had his Creo SL for 3 years now. Maybe there's a trick to using the Smart Control. My Creo is a comp carbon and came with some alloy wheels. I splurged and bought a fancy set of Roval carbon wheels to use for the road and will use the alloy set for gravel riding - just need to get to the bike shop to have them install a cassette and brake rotors as I don't have the special tools to do it myself. Can't wait to ride my new bike!!!

Hi buddy, I had to wait about three weeks for the weather to clear up before I could get my first ride on the creo I thought that was bad enough, I do feel your pain. But the wait will be worth it. I absolutely love this bike, it makes every ride even more enjoyable. The hardest thing for me is keeping an eye on the weather and moving the diary around so I can get more rides in. I kind of get the Smart Control function now, so maybe in the summer time when I have some big rides planned I might give it another go, but if you get any tips it would be very helpful. Take care, thanks for watching and I hope you get out and ride the creo soon. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

Nice ride very well done on your climbing efforts. I've been looking around the power assist market, looked at Orbea Trek and Canondale, which bike have you got? And what is your opinion of your bike and power assist bikes
@electricbikerider
@electricbikerider Жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, I absolutely love the power assist bikes I am fit and healthy but I switched up from my regular road bike because my friends were having such a fantastic time on their E Mtb. Like you I also looked around at all the manufacturers but I decided to purchase the Specialized Creo sl because of the Motor - Specialized SL 1.1, custom lightweight motor and 320Wh Battery. Specialized MasterMind TCU full display with MicroTune assist adjustment via app, and over-the-air updates, ANT+/Bluetooth with Handlebar remote. It’s a fantastic bike to ride and makes me laugh every time I fly up and over the hills. Good luck with your choice it’s not easy. Thanks for watching take care and happy riding. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

Support is expressed as a percentage (20%, 50%, etc). My question is: percentage of what? Of the total motor power, limited by the peak power? Or of the rider power applied to pedals? No vídeo I have seen so far makes that clear. Appreciate any light on this.
@electricbikerider
@electricbikerider Жыл бұрын
Hi Joao, the percentage is on top of the power you push through the cranks. It’s not a free ride you still have to put the power down and it will assist a extra, let’s say 35% on top. So if for example a steep hill climb, on my normal bike I ride up it at 4mph, on the Creo using 100% I will climb the same hill at 8mph. I hope that helps clear things up. Thanks for watching and happy riding ⚡️👍🏼🚴🏻‍♂️

Hi, Do you think the 1x is better for you than the 2x? Do you get into the 42 ring much on your steep climbs. I always think that having all the gears available and not having to faff around changing into the baby ring is not very efficient especially when climbing.I am still learning and cannot at the moment stand up and push probably because I have a new L knee and R ankle fusion. Your bike looks so good and has everything I could want but the motor may just be too small for me. I am in the Cotswolds but nothing compared to your area. Cheers
@electricbikerider
@electricbikerider Жыл бұрын
Hi Oxharp, the 1x system is not for everyone but I personally love it, the main reasons are it’s much quieter and less maintenance issues when out riding. The 42 ring is essential for riding here in hilly Devon, it makes climbing a breeze. The Specialized SL 1.1: 35Nm/240w is a good compromise for fitness and assistance, it’s not a free ride as you still need to put the effort in, but it really does flatten the hills. The bike is amazing, as it comes with a power and cadence meter, alarm and lock all built into the motor and tcu. When you recover and are able I do recommend testing riding a Creo as you will be surprised at how powerful it actually is. I wish you all the best with your recovery and many thanks for watching, take care. ⚡️🚴🏻‍♂️👍🏼

@@electricbikerider It is worth it, if you get the 2 cog version it will give you a max of 41km. As it manual it should not invalidate your warrantee, all the boys in my Specialized shop have it on. Hi, a road/Gravel E bike is so much fun just like E mtb you should try it. I average 18mph over a 60 mile ride yes above the 16 mph restriction but this bike comes into play on the hills, as I live in a area averaging 1000ft per 10 miles ridden, I can ride further in a shorter time, so much more fun than my normal bike.
