Can't believe what I'm seeing. Did someone from Specialized talk to my 80+y old dad? Tero X is without doubt his dream bike. You can call it whatever you want - commuter, adventure, explorer,... I'd say that is an "old mans bike" and not in a negative way! It covers all the specs he considers top value. Starting with very relaxed geometry and a comfy seat, full suspension, long mudguards, bike computer with big dials, integrated lights, rack, powerful motor and battery, good components and the list goes on. Just the seat dropper, some will be asking themself why is that usefull on such bike? Well, don't you find it usefull at traffic lights to lower your seat instead of gettig your back off it? Kudos to Specialized

But it weights like a whale, I personally think that 27kg is too much for mtb
@MacGoreth
@MacGoreth Жыл бұрын
@@vascop3642 that is not fully a MTB. With all the components it comes with it is impossible to keep at the same weight as your typical MTB, unless you want it with plastic fenders, plastic rack, a triple A battery, and an fridge evaporated fan motor.

Fast forward a few months and my dad has been a proud owner of one of the first sold Turbo Teros X 5.0 sold in Europe for a few weeks. Is it perfect? No, but it's really near perfection for him. Weight is quite high and the long fenders make it quite tricky to load it in a Ford CMax but with all the gizmos and the fact that it can carry almost an elephant (besides the long fenders can be easily shortened by removing a single nut) it is everything he wanted. It has a solid range and really comfy ride. So far, I can just thank Specialized for making his dream a reality!

I’m nearly 60 and have a couple of health issues and I’ve been using a turbo Levo for my 30 mile commute to work for the last 6 years, I’m looking for my next bike and I think this might be the one 👍

@@LastAphelion The Levo has been a great bike, no issues over the years apart from the motor playing up for the last 6 months, it finally stopped working all together last week 😔 In the end I’ve gone for a Vado 5.0 IGH and picking it up tomorrow 😊
@patrick.771

@@Sean-vz7zw Are you happy with the Vado? 😊 When you had the Levo for your commute to work ... wasn't this a problem since it is designed for trails and not for "normal streets"? I'm considering the Levo but I'm not sure if it is comfortable for paved roads too.
@Sean-vz7zw

The Vado took a couple of weeks to get used to after riding the Levo but it’s a great bike for commuting, I use muddy country roads and canal towpaths here in the UK, I think the Levo was a bit overkill but it was a great bike 😊

Nice! I think this is the next bike category to take off… Commuter with trail capabilities (also used to step on and off sidewalks, up/down stairs, etc). It will need a proficient locking system. Good review!

I'm 67, with two artificial lumbar discs, plus just went into remission after a 4 year battle with non-hodgkins lymphoma, my back issues took me out of biking but with the rear suspensions and modern bike geometry and assist I'm able to ride again, I had narrowed it down to two mountain bikes, Giant and Rocky Mountain, both north of $9000 cad, I'd asked if they could add fenders, lights, & kick stand, lol, the sales guy said no kick stand but you can strap on some shitty fenders, anyway I'd decided on the Rocky Mountain, the day I went into buy it last month the sales guy said a bike came in that morning with my name on it, I'm now the proud owner of the Specialized Turbo Tero X, it is an awesome bike that gets me out in the fresh air, either on the road or the trails around my home, it's the perfect compromise between the road and dirt tracks. What a difference between my hardtail hardcore mountain bike of my youth, riding again has been so liberating! I highly recommend this 'old man in denial' bike.

Same here, Tero X 5.0. I put 780 mm handle bars with 90 mm rise (stock is 720 wide and 28 mm rise). It gives a more upright riding position and wider bars (I’m 6’3” on xl frame) give a more stable steering feel. Overall, this change significantly reduces the neck strain and wrist pain associated with flat bars or drop bars. Found on Amazon for $33, Gewage brand. Took about an hour to install. Needs a full set of metric Allen wrenches and Torx wrenches down to tiny T9 size.

Jumped into this video after watching the globe haul st video. This is the perfect bike for me, but unfortunately my timing is off. They released it about a month after I bought my Trek Rail. I really love this though. Maybe some day I’ll have room for a couple e-bikes.

At this price, I’d consider buying it if it were lighter, had a throttle, a more discreet motor, and perhaps a higher top speed. However, in its current state, I can’t justify the price. A $1,000 or $2,000 discount would make it a home run for me. Maybe I’m asking for too much, idk 🤷‍♂️

I believe at this price point and to the "targeted" buyers, this bike should have a throttle. Even the Aventon ($1200) has one and it works great! Taking off quickly at traffic lights/crosswalks etc means safety. I love Specialized and am buying one today but they really should add the throttle option to the commuter bikes. Thanks for the review!!

Throttles are flawed and have no place on a pedelec. That said, there could be a button to give turbo boost.

Very interesting bike for sure! I don't know the whole implications of a Class 3 bike, but don't most trails limit E-Bike usage to Class 1? It'd be interesting to see how rowdy can you get on trail with full bags and cargo!

I'd be really interested to know if companies are looking at how to integrate auto shifters into electric mountain bikes. specialized already has them on some commuter bikes. so eventually I hope this happens as an option. you can have different auto modes just like sports cars. hilly terrain, flat trails, pavement, downhill, etc.
@EMTBReview
@EMTBReview Жыл бұрын
Yes, it will happen first on commuter bikes and cargo bikes. Absolutely compelling use case. Then they'll develop it in the racing scene. It's an competitive advantage once dialed in. I got to try it and the really cool and unexpected part is it shifts while you are COASTING! It matches your speed as you decelerate and shifts to the perfect gear by itself to ensure you are in the perfect gear when you start pedaling.

I think you're right. This will be the next fad and at the price of e-bikes I think there's a lot of people that want maximum versatility. If they come up with a way to have quick disconnect fenders and quick disconnect accessories I'm sure it will be a even bigger hit.

Commuter e-bikes needs to have heated grips and knuckle shield. Long, windy commutes leaves hands numb, even through good winter gloves. That or use cumbersome pogies. Also, why only rear brake light? Why not include rear turn signals, too?
