Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0 SL Top Speed Test

Testing the Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0 SL to see how fast it can go with an average rider. 28 mph is possible but not easy to get there. REDSHIFT ShockStop Suspension Seatpost takes the sting out of the bumps at low and high speed. The top speed reached was 31 mph going downhill - see the end of the video.

Thank you for this! Just bought one today and it's my first mid drive eBike. Are you finding you have to shift gears and adjust your cadence to unlock the top speeds? I'm getting used to this since my previous eBike was a single speed rear hub motor design.

I live in the area so no need for parking. Laguna Hills community center has a large parking lot and you can access the trail from there and go West (this route) or east up to Cooks Corner.

I am trying to install my redshift seatpost and was wondering how you removed the tailight, did you cut the cable and wrapped it with insulation tape? Thanks

Yes I cut the wires, taped the wire ends and pushed the wire into the tube. Be careful not to drop the seat post clamp into the tube

Hmm a long time i thoght iam gonna take the vado 4 or 5. But the noise of the motor i think is like 3 times louder than most other ebikes. I did a testride. It was fun. But also that you can't take out the battery doesn't really fit for my needs. And on the 4 you have to press start of the support in the middle. Wich means you have to drive with one hand everytime you take the support in or out. Also today i drived a very old e bike. I was on 42 downhill. What do you think about it?

The Vado 4 with the larger motor is quieter than the 5, but if you want a workout you can turn the Vado 5 motor off and ride as an analog bike. Try that with a Vado 4, you won't get very far. My choice was to have a Vado 5 for a workout, and Tubo Levo for fun.

​@@Daytrippen Excellent Video! In EU the vados are limited unfortunately to 16 mph. The Vado 4.0 SL has the same motor as yours. (it has a basic gearset and no suspesion). I think you are referring to the Non-SL which has the bigger motor. Naming is confusing though

I have to the 2022 Vado 4.0 it can do 13/14 mph motor off all around town same as a non power bike an 22+ for miles in sport mod 55/80 power setting with no motor sound

Yep, the Vado motor makes noise except in ECO mode. Trail Mode not too bad, Turbo -- Loud.

People who say the Vado SL motor is noisy have probably never ridden mid-drive motors from other brands...

Hardpack dirt would be fine with stock tires, Maxxis Rambler tires would be better suited for gravel roads

I have 1800 miles of gravel riding and trails on my turbo vado sl, it goes on or off road no problem. Im running 40c wtb nanos and they work great for gravel

21 mph on strait road is not a speed compared to AMP RIDES ebikes that runs 38 plus mph

Pedal assiit bike vs electric scooter with a throttle. If it has a throttle it's not a Ebike, it's a scooter.
