I'm always cautious when using a smartphone in the bright sunlight on a summer day. Did you remember to take your case off? I'm glad RTH worked just like it should, and you were able to activate from the controller. This video is good reminder to about what can happen when using a smartphone to fly your drone in the wrong conditions. Thanks for sharing Bill.

Yes I did take it off as it would not fit in the controller otherwise. A very good lesson indeed regrading being aware of conditions and how they could drastically affect your flight. Never have had an issue with the DJI Smart Controllers or the ones with the Mavic 3 Air 3 Mini 4 Pro.

First time any Samsung smartphone overheated on me. Lesson learned.

First time I hear of a Samsung phone overheating when flying! I know iPhones dim the screen to black when they overheat, happened to me twice a few years ago when flying in summer, I was using an iPhone flying an Air 2 and the phone dimmed the screen and couldn't see anything in the app! Had to hit RTH on the controller, it returned successfully. Next time I was flying the Air 2s and same thing happened, so I hit RTH again on the controller and it returned without issues. After that, I switched to using my Samsung phone to fly, and avoid that overheating fiasco with the iPhone. Summers in Florida are the worst time to fly!

Thank you for your comment. This is the first time I ever had my Samsung ever overheat and I've been using them for years. It is brutal during the summer in Florida.
