Back in my scuba diving days one of my favorite things to do was to play with the juvenile seals. They would come right at you then bear off left, right or right over top of you at the very last second! Much fun but also a bit haroring at the same time.
@thebonesaw..4634 Жыл бұрын
I see... so you only had a thing for the "juvenile" seals... Keep an eye on her, men, she just confessed that she's got a weird thing for young seals; and that's a slippery slope. Next thing you know, we'll find out she likes pestering newborn sea turtles.

I’ve spend at least 2-3 weeks every summer of my childhood at the Vaden Sea, and lived a lot of my childhood at the Danish Westcoast - my first experiences being at sea, (except for ferries), was fishing on the North Sea! Of course I’ve also watched underwater footage of wrecks up along the West Coast. Watching underwater footage of animal life is however a very different experience! Thank you for uploading….

@@gorillaguerillaDK -- Because you're a gorilla... and we all know that gorilla's don't know how to fish (or ride ferries). Kidding aside, he's just a troll, ignore him. I'm from the U.S. but after my service in the U.S. Navy in the mid 1980s, I became a commercial diver and took a job working for BP in the North Sea. I got to see the bottom of it on a regular basis, but nothing as beautiful as this (unless you find wellheads pretty). I've never been colder in my entire life than the year I spent in the North Sea off the coast between Norway and Scotland. Still, it was the greatest adventure of my life, and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat if given the chance.

The North Sea is shallower than (for example) the Atlantic Ocean. During the last Ice Age, a lot of the North Sea was a land mass (Doggerland), So when the waves hit this shallow body of water, they are thrown higher than the would ordinarily be in the Atlantic.
@thebonesaw..4634 Жыл бұрын
To punctuate your point, the average depth of the North Sea is only 90 meters, and the maximum depth is 700 meters. Meanwhile, the average depth of the Atlantic is 3,338 meters, and the deepest point is the Puerto Rico trench at 8,605 meters.

To add to this lovely bit of information is this. The sea has a surface area of 570,000 square kilometers (220,000 square miles). The water volume of the North Sea is about 54,000 cubic kilometers (13,000 cubic miles). The maximum depth is 700 meters (2,300 feet) and average depth is 95 meters (312 feet) below the sea's surface.
