There have been many cartoons depicting everyone’s favorite web-slinger over the years. Each iteration brings something new to the table, but none are quite as beloved as The Spectacular Spider-Man. While it was prematurely cut short after 2 seasons, it has developed a large cult following, with many people demanding that it be brought back. It’s still remembered fondly to this day because its stories were well written. Its characters felt believable, which may be why many feel that it’s the best Spider-Man show ever. But today, we’ll be discussing the characters, from Spider-Man and his friends to the most deranged and evil criminals he fights. We will sort out the best and worst this show has to offer.

To me, Goblin is the worst. Even Ock was a decent person before what happened to him. Not to mention Eddie is somewhat tragic given all the shit he went through before becoming both a villain and an even bigger bully than flash.

Yeah, Ock even charged to help get some the people he tested on out and even as a villain he didn't always try to hurt people in his fights with Spider-Man if anything he would only do that. To either bid himself some more time or when knew he was going to lose, I know that the last one is bad he's nowhere near as the green goblin. If anything, he made Doc Ock what he was in that show. He abused him and used him as tool for his own gain. The lab accident as lest to me was the straw that broke the camel's back for him. I really wish we got more of this series and show more the characters and their arcs and I know it's out there and I mean really out there. But I would have loved if they also did the superior Spider-Man and Octopus.

I don’t agree with Molten Man. He probably should be just below neutral, just as bad as Walter Hardy. He has no personal hatred toward Spider-Man. He didn’t want to fight him because he saved his sister. But the Green Goblin forced him to. Heck, he didn’t even plan on doing anything in the prison break until the Goblin forced him to. So he does not hate Spider-Man, but his actions were forced. Still, he caused a lot of destruction, even if he probably didn’t mean to.

No way, Goblin is the worst by far. Eddie was kinda misguided and all his actions as Venom, were very much amplified by the symbiote. Ock was a nice guy too before the accident, and even after he remains polite and aweare of colateral damage. Now Osborn is a freaking psycho, dude just messed and tortured everyone for fun, blackmails and goes for mass killing while laughing.

If Green Goblin was really this evil I can only imagine how evil hobgoblin would have been if he was in the third season are The Spectacular Spider-Man it makes sense because at the end of the series Green Goblin met an untimely demise after he crashed into a tower full of pumpkin bombs so it would make sense for hobgoblin to potentially take his place as the new Goblin in town if the series continued

@@haidynsworld3820 Hobgoblin probably would have been season 3s main villain. The problem is the Green Goblin doesn't know spidermans identity. He is basically a better version of hobgoblin. His motive is just greed which is the hobgoblins motive. But Green Goblin would have likely returned in season 4 or 5(they said they planned on 5 seasons) and been the final boss.

Plot twist after Norman Osborne's death Harry decides to become the Hobgoblin in order to avenge his father now I know what you're thinking that plot line wouldn't work because Roderick Kingsley is hobgoblin but another theory I have is that after Norman died Roderick would take over as the new CEO of Oscorp and he would use the goblin serum on himself to become the Hobgoblin

That look she gives to the couple just before saying yes makes it clear that it influenced her answer. Nor was it especially wise for her and Peter to discuss getting together when Harry just moments ago came to them after being held for several days and escaping. In turn though, that doesn't justify Harry manipulating her into staying with him at the end. Given that Gwen is the ONLY person who he knows has looked out for him, there's likely truth to his sentiment, however he also looks like he knew exactly how she would react. While her mistakes were poorly thought out teenage choices, there's an implication that Harry's picked up on Norman's teachings, making the whole ending more bitter.

This show is 100% my childhood. Every single Saturday morning at 9am sharp I was in front of the TV watching this show then in 2018 or 2019 I found the complete series on dvd for $25 and could not believe it and I begged to get it and thankfully my mom was ok with it and so I got it and I relived my Saturday mornings again. I wish the show would finish off the originally planed seasons 3 to 5 and give us the whole story.

I'd've extended the Gray through Molten Man here. Also, Molty and Jameson should be higher. Jameson - While everything is true and absolutely damning, he was also prepared to sacrifice himself for Peter when Rhino came looking for Spider-Man's photographer. He's a scoundrel, an abuser, and a terrible person, but he does have redeeming qualities... deep down. Marianis Trench deep. Molten Man - I just all-around think you're too harsh on him here. He's a kid with an illness (as addiction is an illness). He wants to get better, but it's a challenging journey, and his path led him into a situation he may never get out of. He also does NOT harbor any resentment toward Spider-Man. In Opening Night, he initially refuses to help Goblin, but Gobs reactivates his powers and essentially threatens to leave him that way. Mark has very little choice in all of this, or at very least he does not believe he has a choice. I find it hard to blame him. I'd be kinder to Eddie Brock as well, even potentially throwing him into Gray. It feels odd to give Peter a pass for his actions while wearing the symbiote and not Eddie. He's not exactly a good guy before he gets the suit, but it's clearly corrupting and amplifying his aggression. Just like Harry, he also simply lacks a support system, and winds up relying on the symbiote itself as his support system ("It only loves me for the hate"). And he's motivated solely by his hatred of Spider-Man, never caring about hurting anyone else. He likely would have received a redemption arc to some degree had we gotten more seasons.

Something I like about villains in this series such as Goblin and Jameson (although he is more antagonist than bad guy) is how they work as counterpoint to Peter ideology. While Spider man whole development is about a young flawed kid who learns from his mistakes and becomes a better persons, his enemies do the opposite, choosing to blame Spider man for their own misfortune instead of taking responsabilites for their own actions. Norman Osborn represents the worst of this, with his "I don't apologize" attitude, showing himself as this arrogant villain, who refuses to admit his own mistakes and learn from it.

Doc Ock is number 3. He didnt kill Aunt May and Aunt Anna even though he could have in group therapy. Green Goblin is hands down number 1. Unlike most adaptions, Norman is fully aware of his actions. He willing takes the serum and has no side effects or split personality's. He is responsible for the majority of the shows villains. Vulture, Doc Ock, Shocker, Sandman, Rhino and Molten Man. Though he may be motivated by money, he shows no remorse or mercy. He was willing to kill dozens of people in Tombstones party just to escape capture. Being the main villain of the series, he planned the gang war and took all the gang leaders out without even having to fight.

Correction: Harry took the Green performance enhancer *before* being framed as The Green Goblin by his father. Speaking of, the fact Norman found his son unconscious from overdosing on a dangerous substance and (instead of getting him help) redressed him and injured Harry's leg to trick Spider Man speaks volumes of Norman's brutal and self-serving nature.
