Wow, so good of you to take us along for the ride. Absolutely amazing! Good job you didn’t have to paddle back. 👍😎

How cold is it ? It looks like a smoking run but possibly a bit chilly 💪
@RobinMousley Жыл бұрын
For someone with the name kailuapaddling, yes, probably a bit chilly!! But actually, it's not too bad - these runs are done in winter but the temperature here is usually around 14-16C (around 60F) on a cold day and often it's warmer than that. Put it this way, two wicking shirts and a wind cheater is sufficient to stay warm.

Very nice video, but i have a question: how can you go on kayak in the world capital of the big white sharks? I neither can think about it. Is it enough safe staying on the kayak?
@RobinMousley4 жыл бұрын
Haha - in nearly 20 years of paddling here I've only ever seen three sharks... so it's very rare that you even see one and much, much rarer that anything happens. Besides which - in the last two years Great White sharks have pretty much disappeared from False Bay; it's thought because of a combination of over-fishing both of the sharks and their prey, as well as their being predated by orcas. So the risks have always been low (no surfski paddler in South Africa has ever been seriously hurt by a shark) and are now even lower. You're at much more risk of being injured or killed by the other drivers on the road, as you go to the beach, LOL!

What was the true speed when surfing in knots or km per hour? thanks a lot!.

Depends on the size of the wave, but I was doing 20-24kph on the bigger ones.
