The ARs can actually be effective in close range so it isn’t totally crazy. Fury AR in particular can out DPS the sword up close. Doesn’t do anything if you miss all your shots and play poorly. Also need stacks of ammo. Not my first option for sure but better than any other double gun combo this season.

If you have a sword and you’re falling to your death you can push R2 or right click and you’ll slam to the ground and be safe from fall. Like if this comment saved your life.

@@Martin-rb4np Oh yeah, it works. But it doesn't add it to the next match, just to your XP total before the match. I got 2K once, but most of the time it's somewhere between 10 and 200. There is a chance you can get V-bucks, too (never got that).

I use the sword as a shotgun. I'm just not good enough to hit pump shots when I'm going up against a sword user moving all crazy. I like carrying shockwaves, sword, holo ar, bunkers, and big pots. This loadout has been pretty good to me.

10:28 might be closer on the actual players screen compared to what we see spectating, but that’s just ridiculous how he hits him there 😂. Using the Katana’s R2 attack is the quickest way to save yourself from fall damage if you get hit from it, in my experience. Had some success switching from shocks to Katana for endgame because everyone goes for it. Ideally when they do it you can katana spin-jump in the air and avoid it all together. I always try go island, so that’s the point I try to switch to a blade.

Yes, it’s a far superior game mode with a considerably higher skill level. There is also more interesting content with reload as more combat over the duration of the game.

COMPLETELY agree on the swords. It just isnt fun to play. If you dont have a sword in endgame its over. If you do, its 50/50 whether you will win the sword-off. And then, you just get third partied. I have been playing mostly Reload and OG for that reason.

0:52 about POI You're correct. We have 18 named POI at that map, which is great . Next to that there're many other small locations with decent loot so people spread around while landing. For me personally these is one of the map's we ever got it Fortnite :)

I love dropping there. I tend to be good at getting down first and there's a high spawn rate for the katana in the main building. If you get it, you can clean up people as they land. Then if someone gets the key, you can wait until they open the vault and murder them. Fun POI!

I usually try to get good with each melee item they add because I do try and do no gun challenges when I don't have to sweat my arse off to do so and yeah, the sword charge swing is very good. It even works against cars. During the first week of the season people didn't know but they sure as hell know now.

The fact Chun Lee had a crown is exactly what’s wrong with the season. (Despite its amazing map visuals and style) High damage, high fire rate, little recoil/bloom, hitscan - there’s just no skill required anymore. I don’t hate 10 bombing every game, but I miss the joy I got from the reward of projectile. I made a video on my channel about it Jake, “why Fortnite is ruining the game for profit”. Similar to the video you made the other day actually, I had the same conspiracy as him. But I tie in how their greed also can be seen with these changes in mechanics- and how they only benefit onboarding new players, who have higher profitability potential- however will cost Fortnite players fun and also player retention.

I'm a fairly new player, I only play since ch5s4 but this is the least "just-luck-into-victory" season since then. I do agree that projectile weapons were more fun to play with. Also the katana is annoying, but it's nowhere near the nitro fist, the magneto-thingy, the iron-man aimbot stuff, or even the Eminem-minigun. There are actually counterplays against the katana and you can even imagine a great loadout without it (while the nitro-fist, jetpack used to be absolutely mandatory). However you do have to see that Battle Roayle is fortnite's most popular game and they do have to give something for the casuals as well. If it's katana and hitscan weapons it's still far-far better than magneto-gloves or doom island. And if you can't make that compromise you can now play Reload solos as well. In my limited experience this is the season where I can complain the least.

It's about 90 or 120 secs, which is IMO practically infinite under combat conditions. Also, 180m distance.

They stay indefinitely - at least 6 minutes has been tested. Range is only 100 meters now.

I know Jake likes to keep talking about people not using shotguns this season (I’m one of them), but it’s not like I don’t like shotguns, it’s that they simply suck this season. So much so that I’d much rather have a consistent gun even if not designed for short range than a shotgun that makes it more difficult to get consistent shots while having small mag size (Oni shotty I’m looking at you), and also having a slow fire rate (Oni shotty still looking at you). Twin mag tickles opponents, and Sentintel pump is decent but I’d much rather the Holo twister or precision smg.
