A perfect illustration of why Genesis (despite much later success), were never the same after Steve left. Huge loss.

A loss for Genesis? Yes. A loss for Hackett? I'm not sure.

Yeah, so many thought it was when Gabriel left, but the first 2 albums without him were still quite good. But when Steve left that really had a way bigger impact.

Steve Hackett has THE most distinctive finger vibrato in rock music, as far as I'm concerned! It's instantly recognisable.

For me its the emotion he seems to get from his guitars. Quite incredible, never heard anyone else do that.

Steve invented the hammer style long before Edward Van Halen got the idea from Steve. Very evident during early 70s genesis! So rich and smooth of a guitar player. Strives to make guitar sound like another instrument!
@martinparro66833 жыл бұрын
Eddie himself admites that.

@@agtbruinsman7190 Relax, don't get angry. You may be right. The thing is, I don't know much about Anthony Phillips, except that he had a kind of stage fright. After that, I don't know much else. Can you believe this: I live in Sydney, Australia, and I had tickets to see Steve Hackett in June 2020, it was suspended. I have tickets to see it on Saturday 30 (next Saturday) and it was suspended again. Now they postponed it to May 26, 2021. And the tickets I bought are "Meet and Greet" and first row. I want to kill myself !!!🎸

Spectral Mornings and Clocks, which are both featured in the above Video (Clocks not Titled with Video) are probably two of Steve's best Solo tracks. I was lucky enough to see the original album Tours Steve did to promote his albums when they were originally released when he appeared at Newcastle City Hall - those were the 'heady days' of Progress Rock, the likes of which will never exist again!!!

@davidbaker84833 жыл бұрын
Classic era Genesis has a depth of tone that is unique. His " solos " arent like most solos in that they are highly original. I think he was very influenced by Fripp but took it somewhere new. You never feel like Steve is shredding or showing off, it's all integral to the piece.
