Been saying this for years. I want to create songs not sound design. I believe in tweaking a sound for personal taste. People get paid to create the sounds that are supposed to inspire us to create, not the other way around.

100% I’m an artist not a scientist, people who shame people for using presets are weird. Like I play guitar too and nobody gets at me for buying a guitar and an amp and not building them myself.

Holy s**t, you're reading my mind. I was messing around with sculpting my on sounds on Serum, Dune, Repro etc for years.. all of those are fantastic synths, don't get me wrong. But I asked myself the other day: How many great producers became who they are because they made their own sounds? Did Michael Cretu from Enigma came up with that famous flute sound? Did Trent Reznor create every sound on his records? Or Liam Howlett from the Prodigy, who basically sampled his way to a cult following? No, and it doesn't matter. They're still my favorite musicians, because they know how to convey a feeling trough combining the sounds. Everything else is vanity, unless becoming a full time sound designer is your ultimate goal. For me, Omnisphere changed the way I look at the process of making music.

p.s. with all that being said, Omni is still a fantastic tool to mangle your own sounds and the results are much better than everything else I've tried so far.

I agree with all of this except knowing how particular Trent reznor is I wouldn’t be surprised if he did in fact make every single sound on the NiN records

@@Viper-dz2kw He used some stock presets, but yeah, overall, mayber it wasn't the best example :D

Trillian is a game changer for sure, just like Omnisphere 2.

You've helped me decide on weather to get Trillian or Keyscape first. Everyone doesn't want to spend hours creating one sound from scratch. Ive done the create-a- sound way... I'm good on that... I just wanna create music now.. Not sounds.

I agree. So many people get caught up in trying to reinvent the wheel with sounds, and end up disregarding what matters most - the composition. Half the time, their "sounds" really aren't that impressive either.

So trillian is the only place you can get bass sounds?
@2ammusik4 ай бұрын
It has a huge variety of bass sounds. From acoustic to synth bass. I’d say between Trilian and Moog’s recent bass VST Mariana, I don’t need anything else for bass.
