As one gets older, the magic and excitement you felt as a child on your birthdays and at Christmas fades and fades as the years go by. As a 'grown-up' I have discovered the only thing that makes me feel like that kid again is opening a new guitar (or bass in my case). Even when you know what's in the box, it's still totally magic. Glenn, you grumpy old bugger, I enjoyed watching you open this thing almost as much as you enjoyed opening it. It genuinely brightened my day. I thank you :-)

V guitars are very playable and ergonomic. I have one, a Siggery Fury that is similar to an Arrow but with a bolt-on maple neck. It’s got those curves between the ‘legs’ of the V. The Fury also has 24 frets and only the top 3 are above the neck joint, which is symmetrical like a traditional Flying V. The LTD Arrow has a superior design for top fret access with the ‘cutaway’ on the treble side. I just can’t see why the Jackson or Gobsin/Epiphany V has so many frets above the neck joint. Why the extreme body design if you don’t have full easy access to all 24?

Between myself and our other guitarist, we have something like 21 guitars, and six of them are LTDs. One EC-256, four EC-1000, and one MH-10007ET. They're all top-notch instruments, and even the EC-256 is a really solid roadworthy guitar with a great sound. Lately they've gone up in price a bit, but they've still got so much bang for buck. For the price of a single Gibson, you can get two 1000-level LTDs and one 256, and I'd put any one of them up against the Gibson any day!

@@ChamiCh Very nice and very true! I actually own one of all three of those models as well as an EC-401VF. Frankly, I can't get enough of them. Lol. It goes without saying, their quality is far superior to that of Gibson. They're just trash these days. ESP guitars, however (especially the Japanese custom shop ones), are REALLY hard to beat. And literally the only difference between an ESP custom shop and a LTD Deluxe (aside from the logo on the headstock) is that one was built in Japan, and one was built in Korea respectively.

@@andrewgarcia3136 That's actually not surprising at all. I'm glad you finally saw the light. lol. Epiphones are really kind of hit and miss. Then in my second band right around 2016, I had a Les Paul Special II. Stayed in tune beautifully and didn't sound too bad. I ended up playing a lot of shows with that guitar. LTD are guaranteed to always kill it! Thought the Arrow looked insane when i first saw the Babymetal models they made a few years ago. A few tips about pinch harmonics too, you want to really try and dig in with the flesh of your thumb and to strike the string quickly (should be one swift movement between hitting the pick and skimming your flesh off the string straight after). Try and add vibrato or bending the second you hear the harmonic being played to help sustain the note and bring it out more. A good tip for practicing is try to hit pinch harmonics by not fretting (aka move your picking hand up and down the picking area and try to hit harmonics without using your fretting hand or fretting a note). After that, pick one fret on one string and experiment moving your picking hand up and down again to hit different harmonic notes. You will get an idea after time where the best place is to hit the pinch harmonics you are looking for and develop a muscle memory to it. Not sure if I made any sense because it’s easier to show someone then only explain it with words on a yt comment 😅Keep up the great work! ❤️ P.S. I use a 7-string baritone (LTD MH-407B I think with a 27 inch scale and emgs) and it has been my mainstay guitar for nearly 7 years and always the first thing I pick up. Thing is a monster. Made in Korea too and use it anywhere from A# down to Drop F and it works wonders!

I got an E-II M-II off eBay a couple of years back and my first thought was I needed to swop out the EMGs, but you know what they actually sound pretty epic. I'd forgotten just how good EMGs are. They remain in the guitar to this day.

Gibson has their issues, some being inexcusable. Buuuut, when you get a good one, they’re fantastic. Unfortunately, you have to sift through a lot of BS to get the one. LTD’s , like Schecter’s, are pretty much bulletproof out of the box! Great value and features at every price point.

Glenn, I bought that guitar almost 2 years ago, and I gotta say, it’s one of my 2 favorite guitars in my arsenal. I only found 2 finish imperfections, and even then, I had to scan the guitar meticulously for them. It plays perfectly, and when I swapped out the 81/85 set for a Het set, the chugs went from being able to decapitate your local club audience to being able to level mountains. The tuning stability is weird on mine. Half the time, it’ll stay in tune for a week without me tuning it at all. The other half of the time, it’ll go out of tune if I look at it wrong. If the tuning stability was better, and if it didn’t have bad neck dive, it’d be perfect. It’s ergonomic, it’s comfortable, it’s resonant, and it just looks absolutely elegant. Glad you’re digging yours!

I own 3 LTD’s . My viper -1000 and M-1000 hold tuning better than any of my other guitars. Lately i have been playing my Viper more than anything. I have been a floyd guy for 20 years. It’s so nice to be able to play in E, E flat, D standard and Drop C all on one guitar without having to adjust the bridge. The only thing is the intonation goes off in Drop C. I use my Kramer for that tuning anyway🤘🏼

I am a fan of the great days of Gibson, hell who isn't? I also am a fan of honesty however and wish that Gibson was. Thanks for the great reviews and honesty in them. Maybe instead of getting mad, the companies that get a less than favorable review would take it to heart to improve their products. I like this guitar, be great to try one out.

I just became a member, I hope this supports the channel. I've been watching for a while now, love the content. I have to say I agree with much of what you say. I am from the same era of music you are. As a Former BRAND SNOB, after watching your channel, you have convinced me that quite a few of the dogmatic shit ideas that I was believing ,by default, was NOT true. Tubes don't matter, that was a hard one to swallow, but fucking true! None of my Les Pauls stay in tune...I thought it was because they didn't have Floyds on them. Eeeeeek. That was a nice reality slap, however necessary. I just never put that together. My different amps do sound different when I record, but when I change cabinets it is a far greater difference. Soooooo thank you for the real info. The other type of guitars I play are by ESP, shredder style. This video does not surprise me. I plan on sending you a mix during the next mix review, I am interested in hearing your perspective. Thank you for making great info entertaining and fun to watch. Rock on brother.

Another awesome addition to the guit-arsenal! The iridescent paint looks really cool too. I've been playing the updated Jackson RR-X the last two years, which now has the input jack recessed in the top half. It was odd getting used to the floating bridge at first, but it gave me the same kind of inspiration to improve my technique. Squeals and dive-bombs are too much fun.
