@FaZekiller-qe3uf Жыл бұрын
They still use real explosions in movies today. Also, an explosion doesn't need to be CG to be fake, crappy, or both. Practical effects doesn't mean they really did it, it means they did it in camera. People don't often attempt simulate explosions to be accurate, because it's too hard and too expensive; that's why CG explosions look so different than the (what would be even more complex to simulate) practical pyrotechnics.

I love how contained and Aristotelian this film is in terms of the logic. Every single thing led to every other thing, and it could not have been done differently. Of course, that also means the victory was clear, but that's why we love these cliché action pieces, and I love Speed a lot (grew up on it). Then again, he could have failed to dupe the tape and they could have all died, or they could have failed at the bridge, and at the end, so it also has some realism to it and room for error. Fun fact: Elevators are actually the safest form of transportation in the entire world. They are literally safer than walking. Concern over their safety in the early days made them go overboard with safety regulations so people would buy them and they have been OP safe ever since

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves' interviews about working with each other were actually really cute. In separate interviews, both of them admitted on Ellen that they had crushes on each other during the filming of this movie. But of course, it never happened because they maintained a professional attitude. Imagine if they had gotten together though.

The last person in the US seriously injured in a falling elevator accident was in the Empire State Building in NY, NY, sometime in the 1920's when a military plane hit the building and damaged the elevators' safety mechanisms. The woman inside fell some 30 stories, but slowly, and roughly, broke her leg in the bouncing not the landing. Elevators cannot fall, for all practical purposes, nothing contemporary and even moderately maintained. You'd need severe stress, weathering, rust, and probably some kind of disaster to truly see an elevator actually fall any appreciable distance. Go tell an elevator repairperson about your fears that it might fall -- they get irritated, tell you all about how it *does not happen* (because they do their job) and likely you'll hear the same story about the Empire State Building. It must be a union thing, or something.

I read a statistic that 80% of Los Angeles’ elevators have expired safety certifications.

@@tempsitch5632 Probably. Most people get hurt in elevators because of the smart features, when they go wrong, like the floor matching sensors. People trying to get out can get chopped when an elevator thinks it needs to switch levels suddenly. They say never to risk it if the car is more than a foot above or below the exit floor. Further than that and an elevator might correct to the next floor with a shift of weight.
