Interesting video! Thanks for the review, I’m looking at these and wondering if they solely rely on reports from other OOONO owners for alerts of temp speed camera traps? It would be fine if there’s a lot of people using these in the UK and actually do report but if there’s only a small number, they’re no better than or useful as WAZE or Apple Maps for reporting hazards. Is it worth saving the £50?

Good question and difficult to know where they get all their data. I can see that it seems to have all the speed camera and traffic light cameras all around my area on the ONOOO app map, but until a new temporary camera is in place you won’t know how good the reporting is. It is more useful that a sat nav app like waze running on your phone because it is always operating and much easier to report something. There is nothing to remember to start up.

Does it detect when a laser from a mobile speed camera hits your car or does it solely rely on other people making the report that a mobile speed trap is there….?
@comeinhandynow4 ай бұрын
Uses a common database of cameras it seems, plus of course peoples reports.
@jonturner81213 ай бұрын
Then I really do not see the point in this device especially when Google maps already warns you about cameras. This is like buying a sat nav for your phone 🤦🏻♂️
@comeinhandynow3 ай бұрын
@@jonturner8121 The difference is it is always running, you don’t have to run up and look at anything like google maps and the reporting of cameras is an instant push on the top.
@jonturner81213 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info but either way the device is useless to me and I do think they ought to mention within their advertising that it relies on other people’s reporting and not what they lead you to believe that it detects the laser being beamed at your car. They also really should mention that it’s a subscription service too as again, I was led to believe that it wasn’t which is why I came here to see reviews on the device.
@comeinhandynow3 ай бұрын
@@jonturner8121 It wasn’t a subscription service when I reviewed it or while I am using it now. It does seem to have the common set of mobile cameras like other satnavs + reports.

Waze is better and free

Maybe but that one time you forget to run it on your phone will catch you out. This unit runs automatically everytime the car moves.

One more review that only covers a standard speed camera, no information about any other cameras (mobile ect)
@comeinhandynow3 ай бұрын
Well that is because I could only test it on a fixed camera as I am not in the police and don’t know where the mobile traps will pop up. Obviously. It is meant to indicate mobile traps as well but is dependant on whatever database they use and user reports.

Buy one, then drive around looking for one and then let us know. They're mobile and, tbh, they're rarer. Are you really surprised nobody has managed to put it to the test?. I've seen one in many, many years!

The device doesn’t work without the app being turned on. You must turn on the app every time before you start driving.

That depends how the app is setup in the phone I believe, can be background.

Just don't speed in the first place !
@comeinhandynow10 ай бұрын
I thought it wouldn’t take long! I alluded to as much in the video description. Just sometimes it needs just a bit of extra speed to pull in safely, like a 2 into 1 lane.

Lol, my 74 year old mother was caught doing 24mph in a 20mph. Is that the definition of 'speeding'? the women's been driving in London longer than the mayor has been born.
@penfold5095Ай бұрын
@@eye3562 Yes, it is 10% plus 2 mph over the speed limit, which is over/on the guide line limit for the speed limit it that area. If she was unhappy with the prosecution you should fight it in court.

@@penfold5095 I mean, hardly the definition of speeding. Considering cyclist do more than that. Don't be unhappy with life my friend, understand equality vs equity. Court? it's a lost battle.
