I thought I would play ludwig speedkings forever but in a pinch I got one of these Speedcobras and I love it. I still prefer the solid piece of metal over the chain, but it feels a lot like a speedking without any of the draw backs. Tama: Make one without a chain please!!!

Honestly, I don´t have a cool pedal like this, but I strongly belive that the motion, stamina, speed and musical advantadge is bringed by the practice and the capacity I don´t think the pedal is everything, maybe is a little help but the most important is the musician.

what kind of cymbal is on the remote hihat by the ride?
@BenMichalowicz11 жыл бұрын
I tried this at a drum center recently. I love the feel, but i would really save money up for a direct drive pedal, like a demon drive from pearl. Just my preference

Excuse me Peter Wildoer, how's the cymbal that you use as a bell on the left side called? And what series is it?

@Wildoerfaren hey peter, what is the little bell you're playing on? by the way you did an awesome job at the DT audition!

Maybe it's because I had the spring tension somewhat low but the Cobra Coil was bringing the footboard back faster than the beater, creating slack in the chain and causing a clunking/clicking feeling. And that's exactly why I thought the Coil is a bad idea. It would make way more sense on a direct drive pedal. I'm still going to experiment but I'll probably just remove the Coil. The Speed Cobra still feels really good without it anyway. I think the Cobra Coil is a pretty flawed idea.

@VitRadek what you ment is metal drummers like meinl, i ment that meinl endorses a lot of metal drummers, and english isn't my first language either :)

I sent him 2 messages on facebook and I emailed Meinl to know. Still no answer... I'm eager to know what it is because as soon as I know, I will buy it!!!
@the6ig6adwolf6 жыл бұрын
nightmaressea I'm going to guess that it's not made by Meinl. Since he's endorsed by them he can't really tell you about a product if it's not made by them. That might be why Peter and Meinl didn't respond to Facebook questions. The other possibility is that it was a prototype that was never in production.

I love my new Tama speed cobra, but Tama, mabey record your videos in 720p or maybe 1080p, that would be great.
@abeerharoon64517 жыл бұрын
Guds777 if you look at hannes video about the same pedal. you'll notice hannes' camera is the same in all of his videos. chances are, peter used his own video camera and sent it to Tama. cheers. this is about how the pedal sounds, not the vid quality

@Wildoerfaren I really love this video because I'm a bit of drum kit minimalist. This and sandride in this video make me happy somehow (even though I don't love metal drumming)

@Wildoerfaren I listen to metal music, I just doesn't satisfy me to play it :D I totally agree with you, I have to force myself to be creative plus I would find anything more than I currently have on my setup (I use 14" and 10" snares, 10" tom and 14" floor tom) useless for me... By the way I really like the sound of your bell, I wish I could find one that sounds like that..

@chilly2829 It's because it's a stack, he's got another cymbal underneath, otherwise he'd have it on a normal stand :P

@ShittyMcPoopyBalls Mike's input was more technically advanced, but that doesn't mean their better. The way Marco was accenting his groves was 100% in the context of the song, yet it gave simple groves much more depth. They're 2 sides of the same coin I don't think they showed enough of marco riffing with the band, but judging from the little bits in between the playing sessions where marco is just having fun with Petrucci playing stuff, the chemistry is right, and the groves feel just right.

@DillworthDrummer I see the combination of Meinl and Sonor with german drummers. Weird, huh? Otherwise I see Tamas with Sabians or Paiste cymbals more often... (However between metal drummers Meinl seems to be very popular)

@ShittyMcPoopyBalls Marco would have been more interesting, but Mike was the only drummer who had the same level of experience as the rest of dream theater. I think that's the reason they chose him. Probably also a good idea, especially during live shows. Honestly i like Marco more though, i thought his input in the jams was the most interesting of everyone who tried out.

@VitRadek Cool you like the video. Yeah, a smaller kit sometimes forces you to be creative in different ways. At least for me who is used to bigger kits. :-) Perhaps this is an introduction to metal music, ha ha ha... ;-) Cheers, Peter

@ShittyMcPoopyBalls You don't even acknowledge my opinion in stating that marco has a more interesting input. It's my opinion. Not to mention you repeat the same argumentation, Mangini has more experience than Marco. I just liked Marco's style more, but he lacks experience which Mangini did not. Which is why i think Mangini is a better more secure choice for an already highly respected band such as DT.
