I was curious when the craft would start going hypersonic, and I was surprised the the Falcon and Star Destroyers for example weren't showing above mach 1. But I reckon what would have been cool would be for the vehicle sounds to go silent when the camera swept around 'in front' of the speed of sound. Then hear the noise after they have gone past. That would have been more realistic. At the end you simply wouldn't hear any of the mach 1+ vehicles coming, although they would be noisy after passing. Great video all the same!

this has to be 'on the deck' speeds, as every one of these ship can effortlessly SSTO, so they're all a lot faster in thinner air. that being said some of these should be much faster low down, like the Nubian ships that are sleek enough that drag shouldn't be an issue. edit: the only other explanation i can think of is that the main engines aren't effective in atmosphere, so all these speeds for the starships are on repulserlift only. which would then make sense that they could be outrun by dedicated atmospheric craft. they're all basically operating in VTOL mode.

Yeah. As cool as the visuals are in this vid, that’s just one of the many examples of inaccurate information. There’s no way the snow speeder has faster atmospheric speed than ships like slave 1, x wing, falcon, etc. also the pod racers are scaled up to a speed that is laughable.

I've never watched Star Wars other than a few movies here and there, so I had no idea how fast these vehicles are, but I've always imagined them to be extremely fast (at least inside planets with atmospheres and drag), I'm surprised to hear that these vehicles are slower than I expected, slower than many current military fighters arrive... For example the Naboo Royal Starship ( 2:24 ), it reminds a lot of an SR-71 but extremely improved and futuristic, but it doesn't even reach Mach 1 while the SR-71 goes up to Mach 3+
@spacemiaou67 Жыл бұрын
These are all shown flying relatively low, the air is much too dense to go any faster. The SR-71 wouldn't be able to even reach Mach 1 when it flies under 15000 feet.
@payfur910 Жыл бұрын
@@spacemiaou67 In the video he does not specify what altitude the aircraft needs to be at for maximum speed, and if it is maximum speed then it is assumed that he is referring to the best situation for this speed.
@Kurayamiblack Жыл бұрын
I like to imagine that because it's Star Wars and it ignores physics most of the time anyways, their max atmospheric speeds probably also ignore altitude requirements and can be reached at both high and low altitudes. Shielding (for ships that have it) probably helps ignore air physics when maneuvering too. The SR-71 Blackbird on the other hand NEEDS to be at certain altitudes to achieve its top speed which if nothing else gives Star Wars ships a versatility edge (even if it is due to BS). So in all areas except stealth, Starfighters outclass the Blackbird in usefulness. And if we only care about getting from point A to Point B, I would say the Blackbird wins under optimal conditions as long as the destination is on-world. The second the destination is off-world, not only can the Blackbird straight up not get there, but even if it could it suddenly has to compete with hyperdrives and you just ain't winning that one 😅

Many of those craft aren’t designed with atmospheric flight in mind. Before Disney, the largest imperial ship designed for atmospheric FLIGHT was the victory class, and also the venators could fly in atmosphere as they could land. The providence class speed would seem incorrectly based on that one example of the INVISIBLE HANDS atmospheric “flight” down to the surface of coruscant haha We have to remember, many of Thales ships are designed for SPACE, where there is no atmospheric air resistance, their structural framework, even with integrity fields, shields etc can only tolerate so much, where as earth planes are optimised for such flight

I really love this work put into the video. My only critique of it is that standard TIE fighters are rarely fitted with hyperdrives. They're ship to ship battalion fighters and though the New Order TIEs sometimes had them installed, most of the Empiric TIEs did not. Even Obi-Wan corrected Luke's assertion that a TIE fighter "must've followed them from Tattooine," when he says "It's a short range fighter. A fighter that size couldn't have gotten out here by itself..." So while it's certainly possible and it's noted that there were a few times where TIEs were retrofitted with hyperdrives, it was certainly very VERY rare.

Absolutely incredible graphics. The visuals here are absolutely superb! That being said, not sure how you have so many hyperspace capable vehicles slower than the speed of sound at the earth's surface. I mean, the Millennium Falcon alone made the Kessel run in 12 parsecs...😏

EXCELLENT content, special effects & info provided. I'm not even gonna ask how long it took to complete this task as the proof is a labor of love. Keep the videos coming...

this is awesome. I would love to see another one with some of our real world comparable vehicles going along with them

Amazing work, thank you! Can you may be make a sci-fi fighters versus real world fighter jet comparison? Get an F18 vs. ID4 fighter in there as well :)

These spaceship designs are too awesome, so impressive and amazing. Also the graphics are mind blowing. Idk what kind of SW this game is, I only played SW Racings a long, long time ago, but I'm so amazed by graphics and game quality. ❤😁

What this has taught me is that the people who decided what speed things could go had no frame of reference.

I can't imagine the rendering time for this. Great work! Another way to visualize speed though without movement is having the first section without the jumps, time it and see how far the ships get from starting position based on speeds. Might not be good for a video though.

This was done in Unreal Engine 5.2, so there is a good chance it could play back faster than real time.

OK, I came into this video very doubtful that I'd give it more than a glance, but damn if it didn't hold my attention for the entire time. Very entertaining, interesting, and well shot. The amount of time and effort you put into it really shows, and it pays off in spades!

Amazing video, though I am still anoyed about modern Star Wars that they made the Victory Class Star Destroyer obsolete by giving the Imperium Class the ability for athmospheric flight..

Thank you so much for these videos, and all the effort that goes into producing them! I'm not joking when I say I think I've watched the other speed comparison video almost every other day since it was uploaded, it's just so mesmerizing, 😅so seeing this appear in my notifications was a very pleasant surprise!

Awesome video , I’m surprised tho that our fighter jets today are SO much faster than SO many of these vehicles, I’d think the amazing tech displayed here would be much much faster.

With shields active those ships are hypersonic, the ARC 170 is listed at 44,000 KPH with them active.

You should seriously make a videogame with all of your work bro, even if there is no story, a simulator letting us control your models would be so sick, the sound and lighting effects are a must

Very well put together. Never knew the TIEfighter was so much faster than an X-Wing, or the A-Wing so much faster again. Of course, Hyperdrive gets initiated and all bets are off....
@wet-read Жыл бұрын
The craziest thing to me is that the T-47 Speeder is faster than both the X-Wing and Millennium Falcon.
@darthstatic10 ай бұрын
Not to mention that most (if not all) starships have both atmospheric thrusters and either pulse or ion engines for space, so these values are only for atmospheric flight. The TIE/ln could easily pull 10,000 km/h with its engines, but it wouldn't reach half of that before being torn apart by wind resistance (and also irradiating half the countryside as it goes by).
