Nice podcast. Regarding future releases, I think the reason they stick with the anime characters (besides the Duel Links tie) is that they are recognizable as far as marketing goes, and they usually have their own themes/archetypes which are used to offer deck variety to players in new releases. They can't make a box exclusively for support of past existing archetypes since part of their strategy is that a box can work as a self contained board game. I personally like that they use the extra cards for support of existing strategies. Booster packs failed because they had 4 cards per pack with no guarantee of anything worthwhile. If they return to boosters, they need to completely change strategy in regards to quantity, quality and price.

Thank you for your support as always. Yeah we understand the nostalgia we just want something new and being that I personally only like a select few seasons from the anime its not as exciting for me personally. I think with the return to booster box it would make a lot of sense to make them like how hidden arsenal used to be and be a few super rares and a secret

@@OddToxinGaming Thanks.Personally, I don't care about the anime either. But I understand why they use it as a theme for the product releases. I'm all for the return of boosters if the include more cards in each. They could even have them as support to a mini box and release both at the same time.

People have bought the DM era stuff way more than GX stuff which is why they went back to it. But I do think part of the problem is lack of releases plus the inherent scare of power creep.

I think for future releases they should do the 2x VR seasons with the big five. The deck masters can become skill cards that can be placed onto the field as a monster instead of a continuous spell or filed spell. Maybe you can even format them like a pendulum monster with the deck master skill in the pendulum scale effect space and the monster effects in the normal spot. A jinzo deckmaster skill card is just as cool as any anime character.

I had a theory before GX box was announced that they were going to do this after the original battle city box. I do like the idea to I guess “skill summon” a monster as a deck master kinda like commander

I think it's a needless restriction to stay so focused on GX decks. That just steps right back into nostalgia baiting territory. Duel Links had the right idea in introducing newer decks even back in GX to give them a new identity in a smaller format.
