I'm not sure if you've ever covered this in a video, but I feel like you've mentioned it. I've heard to own a car in Japan it's actually pretty pricey, once you factor in parking and insurance and what not. I think in the states we take for granted we can just buy a car and basically park it anywhere for the most part. In Japan, is that like a hurdle most of the car enthusiasts just take on because they love cars? OR is it actually less of hurdle then people say?

Older cars get taxed higher per year. Parking it is your biggest expense when in the cities. Have a buddy who lived in Tokyo, then Osaka, then Nagoya and then back to Tokyo. He had bought a car when in Nagoya a couple years back and his parking was 10000 yen a month for a dirt patch down the road. When he moved back to Tokyo he decided to sell said car since it would cost him 60000 yen a month. Plus, parking rates in the city aren't cheap...and I don't mean the monthly parking. At least compared to here in the U.S., Florida. Insurance is roughly the same as we pay here. He works with a marketing firm that deals with Toyota so he makes above the national average and roughly $600 a month still hurts. When I went to tokyo I noticed that parking wasn't cheap when I looking to rent a car for part of my time there. The added cost of parking it and the fact that it isn't easy to get parking, stopped me.

Its only a small hurdle, but bigger if you live in the very centre of a large city in Japan. In order to own a car you need to provide proof you have a space to park it, like you said you cant just park it anywhere like in a lot of other countries. It might be relatively more expensive but not so much that its really a problem, if it was then there wouldnt be many cars on the road in Japan but of course there are millions!

The raw unscripted humor in your commentary is what separates you from all the other automotive content on this platform. Stickydiljoe is the prime example of the phrase, “if you know, you know.”
