Sounds nice but in the case of a Buick there's replacing the rear axle to adapt to the open driveshaft which will take a real chassis expert to do since it's a coil and not leaf spring rear.

38 Buicks were stick only, so you should keep it that way.

Pretty nice, providing it will go in a DynaFlow equipped car and not that 41. Didn't know this trans was that light. The 3 speed manual in my 73 GMC is way heavier than that, and that is without the clutch or bell housing. How do you mate it to the torque tube? Or do you replace the rear end with a 60s style rear?

Please don't swap no other transmission just keep it all stock you're better off. You'll likely just have a downgrade anyways. Especially if you had the dynaflow transmission them were one of the best transmissions GM ever made

very cool, I am trying to learn at moment, but want to build a stupid project for fun of it. I had a boss that got me liking straight 8, he was a Packard guy, he used it for a daily driver, put on thousands of miles on his Packard, but generally I am a GM guy, he also had a 59 caddy, we drove out a lot, but I want to build a 4wd, 70's Chevy truck, using a Buick straight 8 engine. nothing crazy, other than want to do something like this, I found 4 Buick Straight 8 engines for sale near me, but I had no idea what I was looking at. your info helped a lot! I know I want a manual transmission behind it, but no desire to beat on it, just a driver, and something to drive in bad weather, and get WOW factor when I pop hood.

Thank you! I quit last summer from that boss. But stopped by in October, he was doing 12V conversion to Packard, along with adding air. So will still be used in modern times. I own a bunch of older vehicles, but nothing older than 1961. But have worked on lots from 1920's to modern times. Thank you for your video, so I know how to identify Buick straight 8. I really want to do this! The look on peoples faces when pop hood will be worth it in my opinion!

I would rather keep the stock transmission which would be the manual or hydramatic dynaflow I know the dynaflow was a very strong reliable and almost bulletproof transmission

It can depend on what you are looking for. We don't have a standard adapter plate, but if you can find a bellhousing to get a GM standard pattern to either a 84-92 Chevy S10 OR 93-96 Chevy S10 we can supply a bellhousing adapter plate.
