@TimeoutMegagameplays7 жыл бұрын
james Paul This scene is stuning, but, you need to consider its not for games, not at all, small scene, no interiors, probably no physics, no optimization, no level design, no concept arts, nothing to do, and it looks amazing from the angles Maverick recorded the scene, from other angles it would look ugly, not saying the scene is bad, its stuning awesome, but not for games.
@sandervandermeiren14707 жыл бұрын
I'm a lighting artist in the game industry, I can tell you this, his scenes are not optimised at all, all his lights are dynamic which is not possible for present hardware. it does look good I give him that praise, but you can't really compare it to game levels. if you really want to compare it to something, compare it to cinematic trailers for games. that would be representable.

Probably wouldn't work either, since this is just one static scene. Add all the gameplay components and this would fry your entire computer.
@tennicktenstyl8 жыл бұрын
+Creator13 yeah but it seems to run fairly smooth on his machine, games are often in development for years so future hardware would be able to handle all of this and UE4 level editor is WAAY more demanding than the actual game.
@jasonholcroft34687 жыл бұрын
But its only a small area , it wouldnt be able to handle it on large scale with all game elements in it too. Developers have to consider medium spec and console users too. Will be this good in time to come tho. Maybe next next gen

I realized that when i saw that arrows pointing up and every car was facing the wrong way.. even the traffic lights were during the wrong timeline and could only direct one lane. xD Like, why is no car in the city facing forwards? Did they all turn towards a building, closed their doors then ran away? I dont want to be mad at this person for all the things he did, it was what he had to do to make it look perfect. Im guessing he started to mess up when he placed the buildings. Big in the back small in the front and he probably didnt want to move all of them just to get that perfect camra angle.
@kultkaiser5 жыл бұрын
GammplayrPlayz maybe the threat that caused to city to look like that was coming from behind the cars so they would go the other way

I'm a musician. But right now, you've inspired me to want to learn how to do this, and do my best to make something absolutely beautiful, creating art in another form. I don't care if it takes me a year and thousands of dollars worth of model resources later, you've just made me dream about the concept of building something I'm envisioning, and building this idea without large amounts of duplicating textures so people can marvel at the true beauty of what I've build. Thank you, I have the utmost respect for what you do, and what you have to put in to create something like this. I think I just gained newfound respect for game development/ level design in general. I'm going to follow everything you do, and I hope I can pick up some tips on how to do what you do. If you happen to have any videos that you think would help me in my quest on this little level design dream of mine, please could you share them with me. Even if they're not from you, honestly anything helpful would be appreciated. Have a good day! :)

I have a question, how do you map large objects like the road mesh you lay down in the beginning? Is it one large mesh with multiple UV maps or is it multiple meshes combined into a single file? Just wondering what the most efficient way of doing objects like that. Also kind of wondering about the skyscrapers as well.

@TrinhStudios6 жыл бұрын
This might come 2 year late, but I did some research and the road asset is from TurboSquid, it is called: "New York Streets". It is super overpriced for $185. You are paying for the 8k and 16k textures and the modularity. For the price you can probably get hold of a good student artist at some kind of university to make you a similar set in a few days. (Give the artist the desired metrics and I bet they would be able to make it super quick)

i like how so many people (once including me) think that making an apocalyptic scene is easier than a regular scene. it isn't, because a run-down city has spastic vines running everywhere, there's grass where there once wasn't, everything's broken and shattered. it's harder because it's all strategically placed, to be believable. so there.
