I prefer the TC5 as is, and not because of the lack of a lid lock. The TC5 is more analog and heavier duty.

I read lots of reviews and commentaries about the convenience of the TC5 washer and how it reminds them of the older models and when the TR series came out some loved their TR series washer while others had some pretty horrible things to say about it. I don't have neither one but if I were to choose between the two washers I would choose the TR7 because of the look of the control panel and the versatility that it can provide for my laundry. I even downloaded pictures of the TR7 and the control panel because I think it looks so adorable. I can't wait to have one. I think they're great machines. 😊

Yes! Our TC5 has the more traditional transmission driven agitator, and is usually intended for laundry loads that are more heavily soiled (like constuction workers, farmers, or even families with kids and pets!), and the quick cycles really get through the bulk of laundry fast. The TR series are designed differently to be more gentle on your fabrics to give them more longevity but for stains or more heavily soiled items, we'd recommend a little pretreating or soaking. 😊 Different machines for different laundry needs!

@@SpeedQueenHome Yes I agree. I think some of the bad reviews are from people who get their clothes really dirty and bought the tr7. The TR7 is great, but it probably wont clean really dirty clothes as well as the tc5

You can add clothes with a lid lock. You just hit pause, it stops the cycle and unlocks the lid. After adding the garment, close the lid and hit start again.

@@nsbioy My understanding is safety requirements. The classic action just turns a little at a time as it agitates, the Perfect Wash action on the TR series turns more than 360 degrees. This makes it more likely for somebody to get tangled and injured if the lid is opened and somebody reaches in before it stops.

tr7 doesn't clean soiled close as well . That's disappointing. I switched to tc5

We'd still have our TR series available! If there were different regulations, then our washers would likely have different features to meet those requirements.

Just replaced 25 year old Maytags with a TC5 and matching dryer. Speed Queen is the only consumer brand even close to the older Maytags in terms of quality and reliability. So far so good with our new SQ. We’ll see how long they last. TC5 comes with 5 year warranty. TR7 has 7 years.

Look Speed Queen, I've owned BOTH of these machines in the video (Plus they're matching dryers) and they've both been the worst washers I've ever had. The tr7 one broke beyond repair, I still have the TC5. But it's hit or miss. It won't fill up all the way to the top on Heavy duty deep fill, it skimps by about an inch and a half. The capacity is PATHETIC compared to the much better maytag commercial, and the lid switch likes to be picky about how hard you close the lid. Don't even get me started on the dryer. The DR7 was fine but the DC5 has been SO noisy and squeaky from the first load, and it overdries. For a commercial grade brand you sure are falling behind

how does something over dry?

@@EileenJOfficial Usually happens when the machine has a bad quality moisture sensor or like in the dc5’s case a thermostat that tells the timer to advance. The increments on the timer can also be too long resulting in the machine drying for way too long after the clothes become dry.
