I've always hated that the Mach 5 wasn't in this game. I understand why it's not, because the game is based on the grand prix races from the movie, and the Mach 5 wasn't built for grand prix racing, but it's just a little weird to me that they made a Speed Racer game without including what is arguably the most iconic part of Speed Racer.

As much as I would have loved to see the Mach 5, it would have been easily outclassed by the other cars. Sure, it canonically can traverse the Thunderhead track, but it has a top speed of at most 225 MPH, compared to the T180's 400+ top driving speed.

I doubt there really isnt a game out there can can portait the awesomeness of these cars. Simple yet great and fitting music, showing the cars off while they are seemingly cruising really quickly, it all fits together so perfectly and really got me hyped up as a kid

Some cars & drivers look different from movie & in game 1 : Cannonball's GRX has a smaller spoiler in the movie but in game & hot wheels it had a bigger one 2 : Gray Ghost doesn't speak French in movie but in game he does 3 : Thistle was driven by a boy in the movie now is replaced by a girl 4 : Taejo has some Orange colorings 5 : Kellie is wearing sunglasses 6 : Kakkoii has white hair now black & a mustache 7 : All the cars have a regular steering wheel 8 : Surge Box is now driven by a girl 9 : Gothorm is more Viking than usual

I think Kakkoi wasn't the driver for Musha Motors in the movie. It was different person. Also, the game sets *after* the movie so it makes sense that there are some changes.

In the DS versions there are different versions from the Mach 6 and Augury, Mach 6 CL3 and Augury CL3, both having big differences like the Mach 6 CL3 looking more like a combination of the Mach 4 and Mach 6

no version of this game feels "complete: the wii version has voice acting in the car selection menu, but is missing every car past scuttler, the intro is just gameplay with a generic song, and the replay only has the in-game chase cam the ps2 version includes the missing drivers, has a better intro, adds a rear view button, and has a much better replay system, but the menu voices are missing, which is a hame because i always loved booster mbube's "HAAAAA-YIYIYIYIYIYYIYIYIYIYI"

The PS2 version has racers that don't appear in any other version. The PS2 exclusives are: Yen-che's Scooter Dickey who drives the D-barrel Musha Motors' Kakkoi Teppodama who drives the Seppuku Happy chow's Sweet-Tooth Jangala who drives the Gormandizer Racer motors' Chim Chim who drives the Chimpinator This means that if you play the Wii version like I do you will miss out on 4 racers. (This fact alone always angers me)

If you remember the #49 Juicy Drop Pop car from the Casa Cristo, it would have been Sweet-Tooth Jangala driving that, and probably also the same livery on T180 (was going to be called "Acid Drop" originally I think). A shame we didn't see that bright JDP livery in the game, but that's copyright I guess. There was however a very obscure Speed Racer flash game that was sponsored by Topps. In that it had the JDP car

While on the other hand, Topps probably decided they didn't want to be in the game. It was just a guess though, I don't really know why Topps was replaced by Happy Chow.

Whats funny is that the DS version is what has a movie accurate D-Barrel. the D-Barrel is a Chalkhead skin tho, just like Princess Daisy is an echo fighter for Princess Peach. Edit: Actually the gold Type F is Janus Automakers. Disappointing DS has no D-Barrel but atleast DS has a car none of the other versions have.

About a year later I am now a grey ghost main Rather than brute forcing through tight corners which often results in control loss. I slide/drift (release then immediately hammer down the gas to start sliding while turning) directly into them to have a smooth line out. I also developed strategy along side this technique where I use boost consistently during my slides to keep my momentum up, you have to rely on boost pads and built up boost to make this really effective. I can keep my t180 under control while also being efficient against the rest of the grid. Beware tho characters with a high handling stat will have an easier time with this technique while stockier characters like cannonball or gothorn will have issues due to their t180s being less responsive and more meant for combat and speed.

@@CyberseDuelist35 the only up for the wii was it has more driver selections than the DS and has more racers. The only down for PS2 is it doesn't have much drivers to race.
