So Cruelty Squad isn't just an ugly game. They put a lot of time and effort into the game to offend your senses. At first glance it might seem like a shitpost game but there is a lot put into it. The weapons, upgrades, gunplay, and even lore are all top notch.

As somebody who suffers from chronic migraines, theres a few levels I had to stop playing and revisit later because theres actual legitimate migraine triggers in the game. Specifically during Archon Grid and Trauma Loop. Still one of my favorite games. I will not let my disability disable my joy

Agreed. The game is an absolute eyesore, but once you get used to the visuals (or more specifically…IF you get used the visuals), it’s a very competently made fps with great replay value and an absolutely oppressive and suffocating atmosphere

Yeah, I get the sentiment of the game being insanely ugly to look at (I stopped around the boat mission myself just because I was getting sick from the visuals), but if anything, it REALLY sells just how unpleasant and miserable this world is given everyone has immortality and is controlled by soulless corpos and gods. Not to mention it’s actually a pretty challenging but fun immersive sim

Cruelty Squad is legitimately an S tier game. Though I will say it does legitimately have some migraines triggers, as a migraine sufferer. Still one of my favorite games. Edit: If you have even a passing interest in the game itself, i have a couple videos I can recommend. Most of them are short, one is 4 hours long. Video Game Dunkey also has a video about it.

I appreciate your input on these games, but the terms you're looking for are "Retro FPS" or "Boomer Shooters". And Cruelty Squad is both a Retro FPS and an Immersive Sim. Which is why there's so many ways to approach levels. Not to mention the amount of replay value this game has.

It is not boomer or retro, the graphics are simple, but all the art deliberately trying to be as ugly as possible it might not count as retro, because devs actually tried to make their games look good back then.

It's more economical to do something called Civ maxing, which is when you dump a massive amount of money into the "civ" fish stock, complete the Mall Madness mission, and then let the game idle for a few hours. When you come back, you'll have a few million dollars in stocks, more than enough to buy every upgrade in the game. Edit: Also, you should play this game. Cruelty Squad may be one of the ugliest and strangest games ever made, but it's also quite possibly one of the best; it is so much fun, the design is legitimately good, and there truly is nothing quite like it out there. To half-quote Civvie 11, it's an open ended game that is actively inviting you to break its systems in the most destructive and complete way possible, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

This game basically looks like the best if the CoD developers decided to make their spin on LSD dream emulator. I know thats not saying much when you consider the best CoD games lately have been anything not relating to any kind of modern warfare or even recent warfare in the last fifteen years. But to top it off why would i want a Girls Frontline crossover in a first person shooter where i will never see my character and you can die from a gunshot to the foot? If im playing a hot terminator that can tank several high calober rounds to the dome and chest before dropping, i expect it in a game that would capitalize on that and let me see the character. When even Fortnite can utilize this metric for your animes blowing each others brains out, there's no excuse. They seriously put Alucard in Warzone as a skin with Crispin Freeman doing lines and sure it sounds great except for Alucard always just sounding pissed off rather than reserving the angry lines and using calm lines for most stuff but man that model is cursed. Again a GFL crossover on CoD mobile made realistic anime designs but again if i cant see the character it feels so blegh. Im sorry im drunk we were watching Maxmoremillionpegasusdude?
