57 seconds in a GT4 is blistering! I thought my 1:01 was good until I saw this haha

Nice laps... I'm booked for the 2 Caymans (& the Baja Truck) later this month. Any tips or things I should know about before hand? Want to get the most out of my laps.

Main tip is to use the cheapest car first because you will be unfamiliar with the track, so use slower car first. That way you are familiar with the track when you get the faster car. Seems like later in the day there is less traffic on the track so more clean runs. I would avoid mid day, but that could have just been the two days I was there. Slower drivers will limit your clean laps, slowing your times. You are already watching video of the track which is good as far as learning the track and where to turn in and the driving line. Use the curb, as in drive up on that curb, in turn 1 to straighten out that turn to carry more speed. Use the curbs on all the turns, but turn one curb is quite bumpy when you go over it. Don't worry about that. Most people seem to way over brake there and don't use the curb. Can go at least 60 in turn 1. The instructor will help you with the line to take on the circuit. They talk too much giving a lot of instructions, which can be confusing. Just drive the car. Be aggressive and push because those laps are expensive and it sucks to get done knowing you could have pushed harder. Lol

@@markturrentine5973 Thanx. Thats pretty much what I gathered from watching a couple of your videos. I'm driving the 2 different Caymans (wanted to go w a Lambo & a prancing Pony just to do something different, but there is a much cheaper group SW of Dallas on a much better track that I will prob be doing again in June - DriveXotic @ MotorSports Ranch Cresson). Going to run some laps at COTA this spring as well. I'm used to co-pilots giving me instructions, but these guys seem to want to tell you every single brake/throttle input, turn in, down shift, etc.. - they talk WAY too much. Guess I'll have to deal with it. I'll be doing the Caymans in the morning, then the truck after lunch (double dipping, lol). How do the Caymans compare to the 911 GT3? Love the 911, but that rear end weight takes some getting used to. Thinking the mid-engine feels better. Hoping to get back home to NOLA in the near future & try out that track there on the West Bank. Other than being flat, it seems nice. Wish they had that when I was growing up there. Thanx for the info.

@@bavarianmoparworks8668 you mentioned 2 tracks that I have not been to but plan to get to one day. I have been to Eagles Canyon near Ft. Worth, which is a very nice track. Have a friend from Shreveport that does Cresson so want to get there. COTA is on my list to do. I love NOLA. The Cayman's basically have less power than the 911. Honestly, i dont notice the rear weight bias of the 911, but I have owned several for last 10 years. I track a 991.2 GT3 (2018). At speed vegas I was fastest in the 991.2 GT3 RS, my favorite car there. Only other advice for Vegas is 5 laps is not enough, but it is a budget thing. My son was with me a speed vegas. His fastest time was in the cayman GT4. He is 23 and never driven on a track, but has chased me on mountain roads in a 911. He did a 57 something, barely beating my time in the same car. He was barely slower in the ferrari, the GT2 RS, the lambo, and the GT3. So the GT4 can lay down some good times. I think the power in those other cars may take some getting used to. Good luck man!

@@markturrentine5973 I've heard good things about Eagle Canyon, just haven't made it up there yet. Cresson is just south of there & they do "Monday Funday" track sessions out there for around $200 for the day w/lunch (same thing for COTA, just more $$$). Its fun & not too crowded. Closest thing I've found to the Nurburgring Nordschleife over here stateside. Look up "Edge Addicts" & you can check their schedule. DriveXotic is there as well - they do a special in June for Father's Day: 3 cars, 5 laps each, $300. Can't beat it. It's where I drove the GT3 (& the C8 & Merc AMG GT-R). Great car, but took a lap or so to get used to the rear engine - I'm used to tracking a Charger Hellcat, so just a tad bit of a weight difference, lol. Nice chatting w/you & thanx again for the info. Maybe I'll see you @ Cresson or NOLA. Take care.

What tire was the car on here?
@markturrentine59732 жыл бұрын
It was on Michelin PS4S tires. All the cars except the Porsche GT3RS, the Hurrican STO and the Ferrari Pista were on ps4s tires. These 3 were on Michelin cup2 tires.

@@markturrentine5973 boy am I late replying lol. When I went they had the GT4 on all seasons for some reason which tended to cause it to understeer more than I wanted imo but still love that car.
