Being a machinist, I've literally machined thousands of threads. What I normally do when removing core screws, is I count the turns until the screw pops up with the spring. That way I know exactly how many turns or pitch of the thread. So when I reassemble it I know I can set the number of turns per screw exactly on all six sides, and then adjust from there.

One side of one of my 3x3s had really bad spring noise, and there was lots of metal dust built up from the spring scratching at the screw or washer, and it once caused the screw to turn *with* the center, and it unscrewed itself. D:

If you DON'T use lubrication though you may need to clean it out a lot. My gan x tends to get gunny if I dont use lubrication and don't clean it for a while. It slows down. Then I clean it out with a toothbrush and warm soapy water and it'll go back to being fast again.

The thing with setup is that there is dust buildup that happens naturally when solving, and the cube feels less plesant to turn in general. Lubrication can at least make it feel good for longer I guess. Apart from that, I agree with what you said

Could you do a short on tensioning. My speed cube has the appropriate gap between red/ yellow and red/ white but is really tight between red/green and red/blue. So what screw(s) should Iossen. How does tightening/loosening different screws affect the cube exactly. I hate taking apart a cube and the never free right after I reassemble so I use lunar or Martian drop in lube. Thanks!

Make each screen even with some part of the center cap if you can. Then tighten each one an equal about. Tighter is better than to loose.

How often do you clean your cubes, like your main or just in general ? Because I feel like I have to clean mine kinda often because there’s a lot of dust in there, idk if that’s normal.

You can go many months without cleaning. Dust shouldn't appear if it is stored well. I just clean it wherever I want to start fresh with set up.

Not really, I use the same gears on my bike every day. Different gears on different bikes but for each bike the same gears. Unless the headwind is too strong. I guess it works that way. On the funny side we lube bikes too.

No modern cube will pop on even medium tensions. If yours is, your cube needs to be tightened and turning needs to be more accurate.

If you want to count the corners, edges & centers of any nxnxn puzzle just use this formula. I came up with it & Idk if anyone else uses it. Pls give me a shoutout next vid for this. Plssssssss Formula- (No. of layers)^3 - No. of core spaces(hollow space in the center of the cube) or No. of centers on each side*(No. of layers - 2) 2x2x2- (2 layers)^3 - 0 core spaces = 8 - 0 = 8 3x3x3- (3 layers)^3 - 1 core space = 27 - 1 = 26 4x4x4- (4 layers)^3 - 8 core spaces = 64 - 8= 56

This is not including internal pieces. So for example a 2x2 and 3x3 have the same number of moving pieces (including the edges which often lock to a corner on a 2x2). Same with a 4x4 and 5x5.
