You got a vacuum leak. Check the rubber hose that goes into intake near throttle body. In the video I can see it looks messed up. I had a few ls1s with hoses collapsed. It’s on the passenger side by throttle body.

I’ll take a closer look. That’s the PCV hose isn’t it?

@@SpeedCultureStudios yes I believe so. It looks like the one that also has a ground wire that comes out of it and grounds to the top of coolant crossover right in front of the intake

As long time C5 owner I would get an oil pressure sensor relocation kit. They are worth every penny.

Definitely considering that! I’m replacing the sensor now but have been thinking I might as well do the relocation.

Thanks for the video! I have a C5Z with an aftermarket air filter in the same location as yours. I noticed you don’t have a rubber gasket on the nose cone ledge where the front edge of the hood comes down when closed. Without the gasket there, rain water and especially car wash water will run down through the hood gap at the front and soak your air filter. 😬I think the gasket is aftermarket and was already installed, so I don’t know where you could get one. My car made a whistling noise on high revs and I found the dry AFE brand air filter was too plugged and needed cleaning, but after cleaning I could see pinholes of light through it, so I replaced it with same brand dry filter and added an oiled foam K&N wrap on the outside that I made from a 2’x4’ sheet of foam. The AFE filter stays clean now. There was a coating of dust on the inside of the intake plenum that the old pinholed filter let through😬

Not really worried about rain water soaking the air filter honestly. It would have to be a lot of water being forced in there to soak the filter to where it was an issue. I’ve noticed after driving in the rain that when I lift the hood, more water rolls down the hood onto the filter than was on/around the filter in the first place. With that said, I don’t know that I will be keeping this intake anyway, so we’ll see what adjustments we might need consider with the next one!

@@SpeedCultureStudios As a test, next time you wash the car, try laying a paper towel over the filter, then wash the car and towel dry the hood, then open it and check the towel and see how wet it got.

Do yourself a favor and use the Tick performance cam and parts. I installed the Tick Stage 2 Saturday Night Special in my LS6 and she puts down 428 WHP through the 6 speed in my '01 Z06. Cold air intake and headers with no cats and factory Ti axel back mufflers. If you have any questions on it, @Chris@tick is your guy!

I was saving up for a C6 at the time you bought yours. Ended up going with a C5 instead and I’ve had a blast. Now that you switched over, would you say maybe saving up would’ve been worth it? It’s something I constantly think about. Maybe one day I’ll own both. One day…

I really haven’t gotten to dive too far into the c5 yet, so I don’t have a definitive response, but I’ve been surprised at how snappy and strong the car pulls. I was thinking it was going to be night and day difference, but it really is not. I think the c5 is a better looking car than the c6 base and unlike the ls1 better than the LS2. The GS is such a good looking car though and the ls3 is no joke, but you can get a c5 for half the cost of a GS and put $5000 into it and have a hell of a car. I wouldn’t second guess your decision!

Check the harmonic balancer. Its a common issue with the C5.

All the C6 fanboys will call you dumb for getting rid of the C6 GS but they are extremely delusional and can’t comprehend that the C5 is also amazing in its own right. The C6 generation is not the only Corvette out there worth getting. Also, if you got the money, the C7 is obviously newer and despite the slight weight increase, electronic steering and other gripes, it’s still an awesome car. The pros outweigh the cons

Yeah for sure! I don’t consider it a down grade so they can say what they want 😂 I sold it for a truck and camper. Since I’ve already had a c6, a c5 was still on the list, so that’s what I went with.

No wobble in the balancer. AC tensioner on the other hand, was shot! But the balanced will be addressed anyway with the upgrades that are coming!

Because I know the LS1 is an amazing platform for big power with low money but didn't know why you get rid of the C6 anyway once you break in the car Id like a video of you comparing the two I wanna get a vette don't know which route to go wether C5 C6 or a c7 Stingray

@@Kevin-be7ow I’ve always just loved the c5 - growing up in the 90s, that was the car I wanted. The c6 LS3 is an awesome bang for the buck right out of the box, but you can get a c5 in decent shape now for 10-15k.
