At this past Awesome Games Done Quick, $1,025,000 was raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. It only took a week of continuous streaming, 18,000 donors, and many many runners to achieve. A big thanks to everyone responsible for these amazing numbers, what a humbling achievement. For comparison, last year's event raised just under $500,000.

I remember trying to low percent this game ages ago - also exactly how long it took before I gave up. Without a route I just made it to Ridley - after countless deaths - and gave up on him. So watching this is really awesome. Always amazing to watch a master going at it.

SaltyWaffles It's a 2D game AND you can freeze your enemies. Nice run but it can't be that hard to complete from what ive seen. The only challenge is knowing where to go

steven Claessen Being 2D doesn't mean anything, neither does being able to freeze enemies in the end parts of the game. Till you've played it you don't know how hard it is. He's doing low% on hard mode which means he's taking 40 damage from most enemies with only a max health by the end of 200 HP. Freezing enemies only happens on the latter quarter/half of the game and it isn't that useful except for the Metroids which require it for which he has to calculate every move he makes due to how low his ammo is. He's still taking tons of damage from anything with a hitbox so just a few shots could finish him off even when he's fully powered up. Knowing where to go is the least of his problems. Some people shouldn't speak without knowing what they're talking about. Then again, some people simply shouldn't speak.

Doing this Hard run years ago on my GBA, raging and going to GameFAQS constantly...I watch this run and totally dig it so much more. What he pulled off took me so many hours: the wall jumps, the bosses with limited missiles, the bomb jumps, avoiding so many pick ups right in your way, and ultimately doing the entire last segment without your suit and the final part where you gotta pull off two boss fights while avoiding getting OHKO. Much respect!

I think if the donation in tourain and kirbymastah wasn't talking the whole time through that area, he wouldn't of died. Its good commentary, but there are times where it doesn't need to. Donations are important, but needs to read after the run if its a big one. The reader should know where the hardpoints are even if serious time isn't called.

Just to put into perspective the sheer insanity of this run, this video was the only Low% Hard run on the leaderboards until just 3-4 weeks ago. One of those is a two hour run and the other, which beat this time by 40 seconds, has three deaths. Technically speaking, there's a lot of room for optimization, but the pure lethality of this run makes those optimizations an ordeal.

There's an accessory called the Game Boy Player that attaches to the bottom of the Gamecube. (Make sure you get the corresponding Game Boy Player disc too - that's needed for the GCN to read the GBA cart!)
