Speeding Trip Boat Crashes into Moored Narrowboat | Fuel Boat Mountbatten | We Cruise the River Soar

Before leaving Trent Lock we take a wonder up the Erewash canal and visit Fuel Boat Mountbatten operated by Chamberlain Carrying Company which is at Paul Barbers boat yard Sheet Stores having a new section of base plate fitted.
We then head up the River Soar showing you our route as we go.
Unfortunately as we approach Barrow on Soar a trip cuts the corner and ends up colliding with the moored boats in his attempt to get out of our way.

You took the Loughborough turn very well, some folks cant do it with a 40 foot narrowboat. P DE Marchant boats arent known for their handling skills!!, oh, and its Normanton on Soar. Our favourite river still(although the Nene and Warks Avon push it close). Tim wore that shirt at our wedding.

Great vlog, fascinated with the whole towing a butty thing… adds a completely new dimension to cruising. Nicely done. Had a similar experience with the Mercia Trip boat… seems they think they own the water and have little consideration for other boats.

On previous videos of buttys being towed by a motor they off set the butty so as the wash from the motor does not meet resistance from the butty. I noticed that it is not something you do curious as to why. Hope you're both good Thanks for your time and efforts to produce your volgs. Keep safe warm dry and virus free both

Thanks for your comment, we have the Butty on cross straps up close to the motor boat as the Butty is in effect empty (running light) so the prop wash goes under the butty and gives me more control over the Butty.
