Boyne Thunder Poker Run 2023

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year as one of the finest high-performance powerboating
events of its kind, the Boyne Thunder Poker Run attracted a sell-out fleet of 120 V-bottom
sportboats, catamarans and center consoles. The breathtaking mix of hardware in the Northern
Michigan happening included models from Cigarette Racing Team, DCB Performance Marine,
Donzi Marine, Fountain Powerboats, MTI, Mystic Powerboats, Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats,
Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats, Performance Powerboats, Skater Powerboats, Sunsation
Powerboats and more. From the Boyne Mountain Resort welcome party backed by American Custom
Marine and Nor-Tech and the downtown Boyne City street celebration off the water to the Bay
Harbor lunch and the poker run itself, which took participants through Lake Charlevoix and
Round Lake before heading into Lake Michigan, the four-day event delivered all the power and
beauty that have kept it thriving for 20 years.

@@dimmacommunication I'm pretty sure they stopped and what you see is refitted race boats or old pleasure boats. They are unicorns and why people go nuts over them. Mark McManus owns Apache and I think they do restoration jobs. You would have to check. If they still build I'm sure its custom from ground up.$$$$$$

Been a spectator for years, we go to the pier and sit right at the south lighthouse in Charlevoix, the parade of boats going out to watch as they take off is amazing. Love Boyne Thunder!

Yes this is 1 Awesome event for the State of Michigan and everyone involved and another year I've missed because of the SMOKE from Canada 🇨🇦. As I suffer from Stage 4 C.O.P.D and can't walk as far as I use to, but maybe by next year I'll have a Pride Scooter and then I'll be able to attend in 2024?.

Owned a 38’ Formula with twin Merc 502’s Had it for 5 years. Drove it from Manasquan inlet to Nantucket several times alone and to Ft Lauderdale 6 times. Don’t miss owning a boat like that at all. Glad it’s gone.

My son and I worked on a 32’ Sunsation with 2 Whipple charged 502s. We chased gremlins for 15 years so we could competently run in this event. Never made it. By the time the boat ran right I was old and my son had 2 kids. Now I ride my handicap scooter through Boyne City and that’s good until I win the mega quad billion lottery and run over to Skater and throw my check book at them. I’m 76, so this is a rush order.

Unless I'm mis-remembering, WARPATH is an Apache Powerboat that used to be owned by Storino's and on the Manasquan River. Back in the 90's it went down to Fort Apache for some work. Someone broke into the boat yard, lifted the motors on cranes and drove the boat out from underneath the motors. Gone, gone. That paint job isn't as nice as the original. The original was a 47' i think.

If you are filming a boat doing 120mph plus, lets hear the engine noise then cut back into commentary or background music etc..

Has anyone noticed the commonality amongst all these peoples?...aside from many who own, (Or the Bank owned), their nice boats....fully two-thirds or more of the 40-year-old men are over-weight with giant beer bellies. Each time I visit the states it gets worse & worse. My entire family in the States of some twenty plus individuals , every single one is either obese or obviously over-weight. Myself?, at five-foot-ten-and-a-half....I have bobbed from 180 to 193 lbs since 1984. It really is so sad to see...
