I use so many layers like tf Update: A year after this comment I started painting on one layer. I have become fearless and am no longer burdened with looking through to find a mistake on a layer I can’t find. April 2022 update: It’s been a while, i never realized how many people have been replying and liking this comment, so thank you!! I’m 17 right now, almost turning 18. I was 14 I think when I wrote this comment, which is crazy to think about! It being pre covid and all.. Because I’m in college now, I don’t draw as much as I used to and I wish I had more patience for it. I’m not as fearless as I once was, so I don’t colour right over my sketches on the same layer anymore, but after I have added the rough colouring under my sketch (so 1 sketching layer and one colouring layer), I do turn off the sketch layer and just paint on the colouring layer. I hope that’s not too confusing. I don’t use lineart and I never have, so it’s not really a technique I recommend for all artists out there! Anyway, I want to thank you all for being so kind and interested in my journey. I feel really welcome, which is something I’ve been missing for a while. I wish you guys the best.

You can't condense the entire process of painting into a single tutorial. Painting requires intimate knowledge of how light and color works, it has nearly nothing to do with the raw technique. There are thousands of painting videos already, look up Marco Bucci. Stop looking for guides that teach you 'quick cheats' or only teach one style, learn the fundamentals
@gamerGirl900016 жыл бұрын
Tutorials can be very helpful when looking for new techniques to put into your art. Of course you cannot condense all your knowledge and experience into one video, but you can still give an overview of your technique, which can be incredibly helpful. A tutorial can also teach the basics of lighting and color as well, and working that in with how one applies that to their own art makes for a pretty good tutorial, or just example video. Assuming someone wants a tutorial for 'quick cheats' is incredibly presumptuous. Also, painting in general does not truly require much knowledge at all, much less 'intimate knowledge'. If you can hold a paint brush, or a tablet pen if digital art, you're already halfway there, and you generally gain skill the more you paint. Of course it helps to know color theory and how lighting works from the get go, but it is by no means a requirement. The way you worded that was so intimidating-- like doing art or painting was some impossible feat. Yes it will take many years to become skilled, but it's really not that dramatic.
@쿠야-w4o6 жыл бұрын
HiMyNameIsWeirdo Uhhh hey there, bud, I think you meant to say "condescending" instead of "condensing" lmaoo,.. two different things You can't say what that person's saying isn't true though. You can't show your art style in a single video, it's close to impossible. If you want to know the details, the fundamentals are important, even if it sounds boring. That person might have sounded a bit "ticked off," but that's probably because there are too many people who are requesting for tutorials on "how you paint," instead of maybe tutorials of a certain something.

I want to be this good one day. At the level I am in right now, my lines aren't as crisp and the colors aren't as nice as this one. My significant other said that I've improved a lot and I'm so happy about that. I hope that in a few months, I can get as close to this. I'd like to start a youtube channel one of these days and just make art. I'm giving up my nursing license for art, and that's a huge leap.
@Gooeytama4 жыл бұрын
I wish to be close to this good too - at the moment i feel so far off it feels like I'll never achieve it! It's hard to get motivated too when im not confident in my skills - but I wish you good luck, you'll get there ( ^ w ^ )/ follow your passion!
@levicrossdechantel3 жыл бұрын
@@studionatsukashii1178 i forgot I even made this comment 😂 here is an update of where I am now: 1. I gave up my license and do not have any intentions of returning back to that (very abusive) field, especially bedside nursing. 2. Since January 2020, I have been doing digital and traditional art ontop of my main job as a writer. My lines aren't as clean yet, but I did notice certainty and confidence in my strokes. The trick was to practice the same poses several times in a day so that my mind and muscle memory can retain the knowledge. Whenever I got frustrated/unmotivated, I would take breaks for several days and just watched other people draw on youtube. That almost always makes my arm itch to draw something. Instead of stylized/anime art, I focused more on portrait studies, which paved a way for me to get into charcoal drawing. I did not draw daily, contrary to what other artists say. This is because I didn't want to make myself think that art is an obligation/tiresome/bothersome. I wanted to continue loving art by keeping a healthy boundary and allowing myself to enjoy other stuff other than art. If you focus too much on art, you'll run yourself dry/get frustrated. So I had to teach myself to walk away from it from time to time. 3. I have also been doing watercolors since 2020 4. In the latter part of 2020, I challenged myself to try gouache out, but I did not get along with the medium. It was more an issue with me and my technique, rather than the gouache itself. But generally speaking, gouache is a very difficult medium to work with. 5. Just a month ago, I started getting into oil painting. I used to thibk that watercolors were my favorite. But when I tried oils for the first time, I was enamored by its forgiving nature, its color vibrancy compared to other mediums, and how easy it is to work with. I actually just got an oil painting commission just last month. 5. I haven't started my own youtube channel yet. I'm still deciding if I should or not, or if I even have the time to do it due to commissionwork, freelance work, and my day job. For anyone wanting to pursue art, I urge you to start now. I remember telling myself "I'll start when I'm better", but I realized that I won't get better with waiting and just practicing what I know/is comfortable for me. When I started commission work, I was surprised on how much I improved faster coz I needed to learn how to draw/paint flowers, arms, hair, etc... Remember, it never hurts to try.

It's all about observing the real life world, instead of photos off the internet aswell as remembering not to shy away from contrast when practicing realism, hope any of those tips help you improve besides taking a look at specifically CYM color theory since you're a traditional artist! Piracucu if you analyze closely she is using paint tool sai 2 and it has blur effect option ( on the top line if you click on filter > gaussian blue ) and set it to 8.6, then on a new layer with a blue color she used the new gradient tool ( set to its straight form and s-curve gradation) which is located inside the box with brushes and after that she set the layer to multiply. hope this helped lol

Ramen Sama what if you have the first Paint tool sai?
@yasmineel43776 жыл бұрын
Piracucu you can't really make it exactly like she did since there are no gardient tool or blur effect. But there's an option: you can make a blur brush ( by putting 100 to Blending , dilution, and persistence then lower a little bit the Density like that the brush will feel like a blur tool ) and use it on top of the background you want to seem unfocused. As for the gardient, on a new layer, you might just use a very big sized airbrush with low density and use it on the right corner to make the blue effect and adjust it with the blur tool you've created ( maybe lower the layer's opacity too) and set layer to multiply. That's it.
@Sammysapphira6 жыл бұрын
Piracucu take a soft brush and reduce the opacity to about 20% and make the size extremely large, then paint off of the cavas so that the edge of the brush barely places paint on the canvas. You don't need cheats to produce this effect.

You have a unique style and pick a unique combination for coloring, it's also kinda mind-blowing seeing you only use 3 layers for the whole painting

it is actually easier to use few layers, you can easily fix your mistakes using distortion tools

How long did this take normal time, it looks super good💖💖💖
@Horny_Sister6 жыл бұрын
If you look at the bottom right you can actually see the time! About 2 hours for the rough sketching and then 6-7 hours for the finished piece on the next day i would say.

@@Horny_Sister actually no, she takes breaks and the minutes go by slowly compared to other speedpaints.
