Best Art Tip: draw for the purpose of solely improving, having a mind set of you're bound to improve little every time you fail. scientifically speaking, the reason why we can play games for hours because we're living the present and not expecting the future or past, that's why time goes slower. if you live for the present with a mindset beyond your expectation, just like the game you'll feel bored how slow you're progressing and quit. enjoy, have fun, imagine yourself some kind of wizard honing its magic control or whatever
@ArtCookeiАй бұрын
Yes I love the wizard idea! Art and Culture are the closest things we have to a magic system anyway lol. What I think is art is much more broader than what most people think though.
@dominicbadal568028 күн бұрын
I would argue that drawing for the sake of only improving can hinder your progress. Yes you should think about getting better, but if you are only thinking about getting better you will overthink every step you take and question if its leading to improvement or not. I think there is a balance needed. you need to draw for the sake of improving, but you need to draw what you like, now what you think you should improve on. If you feel bad at drawing heads, but you dont wanna draw heads, theres no point in trying to improve that. But if reversed, if heads is the only thing u do wanna draw, but you suck at it, progress and struggle will feel intertwined and part of this improvement journey
@VishnutoShiva28 күн бұрын
@dominicbadal5680 i was thinking more of having a positive mind set and sucking your failure without sweat cuz' it's really fun. that's how every humans improved. Just accept the inevitable and keep it in the mind that the result is already in the future and all you need to do is put the time to lessen the gap little by little between that future and you. No need to overthink when failure is everywhere and they exist so we can perceive our flaws (don't perceive failure negatively) Not being able to draw the head in the present and not wanting to draw it can be easily be overcome by just not thinking about it and be satisfied with your limit like how you fought an elden ring boss. I can't beat dis' boss but i was able to got it in half health and you will get better next fight, and just enjoy fighting and improving. Ignorance is bliss most of the times, so kill that bad perception of your father punched you because he's a barbarian for not listening to your well sounded logic but because you disrespect the woman he loved. There's many word for that thing i was referring. Study, Train, Practice, Play, etc. all of them are equally the same with our neurons adapting. Think positively and learn to live for the moment. I think some people had a bad perception of the word I was referring for forcing themselves to learn something like being able to do a hundred push up when your mind and body isn't suitable for that yet, or rejecting the gradual changing process, and that's not how our neurons work. Lastly, "There is no price to perfection... Only an end to pursuit. We live pursuit," and it's up to our mind how we perceive progress.

5:24 something I want to add here is I feel like many people, especially those in the creative field might also go through burnout in life sometimes cause of various reasons. And because of that, have executive functioning issues, like brush their teeth everyday consistently. As much as I understand that doing things consistently is how one can develop a habit, if it is forced, I don't think that habit becomes a healthy one. So what I am trying to say is, to start art with, it's okay if you don't show up for it everyday. Sometimes maybe you just can't. But if you give yourself that time away and come back to art, and keep doing that, I think you'll develop a gradual love for art and will keep wanting to come back to it. And if you find yourself unable to, that's okay. Don't beat yourself up about it. You can recharge and come back to tackle this when you can. And I feel like this will take years to develop but the "coming back" to it is the most important part here. Showing up to art. It doesn't have to be daily from the start but the more you start showing up, the more you will keep showing up and eventually you might do it daily! I dunno who else needed to hear this but I almost always feel like I need to hear this, so Ima drop it here. Thank you for the tutorial and stucture schedules!! They're very helpful to keep coming back to!

rest is an essential part of the creative process. As is eating, exercising, and going outside
@robotgeorge28968 күн бұрын
This is wonderful advice. I've lately been trying to make "showing up" to whatever life goals I'm resisting a philosophy, just doing the bare minimum like getting dressed for a run or writing a single sentence. Over time I notice I warm up more and more to an activity and eventually accept it as part of my life. But if I beat myself up, it just makes the activity punitive and makes me want to avoid it. Gentle consistency over time is the key for building progress and skill.

Great frekin video man! I've always loved seeing how other artists structure their practice. Having a 'focused deliberate' study time seems to be one of the best ways to learn fast (as opposed to mindless sketching- which has its benefits, but less effective in terms of learning) I took aways some great strategies from this episode 👏 P.s really digging the craftsman mindset/approach to drawing. Makes it exciting to watch the vids.

Drawing from imagination doesn't mean it 100% imagination, its all come from memory. Like how you can draw a tiger if you haven't seen one. Even a imaginary creature like dragon is a combination of reptile and dinosaur.

yo just an element of feedback, the content is very useful and interesting, but the little bopping talking head is just kind of annoying and distracting, could be better to remove it altogether cuz im sure its not just my nerves it could be getting on. Sure it does add an element of personality to your videos and could become a recognisable element throughout your content but perhaps there would be a better way to do it
