It’s not really about the shading but the perspective. In this painting/drawing (idk lol) you see curves and such. I see a lot of drawings where it looks like you cut out a piece of paper with some spikes and that’s it. I think it also helps to have highlights.

this really takes me back when i used to be in middle school and all id watch on youtube was anime speed paints(and vocaloid lol) and i was so happy when i finally purchased paint tool sai some time in high school and got my first tablet. i would draw non stop everyday until i eventually got better at cg drawing. but after a while i gradually lost interest in drawing even though drawing was my only true happiness since i was little i guess i fell into an artist block and couldn't pick up a pencil anymore..i got depressed. i felt like my art was not worth it anymore and i gave up. but deep inside i knew this has always been what i always wanted to do. i dont want to stop drawing. i love art and want to get back. drawing was the only time i could find happiness in life..

Question; I've seen people use that method for coloring (not shading, i mean filling in the lines). I don't understand how you color past the lines and onto the hair area whilst coloring the skin, but when you color the hair it's completely unaffected by it and fills in perfectly within the lines.
