Like you mentioned the more you use them the easier it becomes ,simples. I changed over to speedplay simply due to knee issues and it was resolved due to the ample ammount of float.
@swanauto473 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed an improvement in the knees as well. I’m super happy with them😃

You're going to love the speed plays the more you get them dialed in to your comfort and performance expectations and the C clips break in. I'm coming keos and keo blade carbons the speedplay are 10x's better once they're broken in and dialed 😊👌
@swanauto473 жыл бұрын
Definitely, they become so much easier to clip in
@loiseaunoir10213 жыл бұрын
How many times did it take you to make them easier to clip in? Mine are still stiff after a hundred times
@onilovni12342 жыл бұрын
After riding Shimano spd pedals for 10 years, I switched to Speedplay pedals this summer and I regret switching this late at 27 years old. Speedplay cleats are SOOO much easier to adjust compared to SPD, the float they offer is far greater and the dual side clipping makes the SPD look stupid.
@swanauto472 жыл бұрын
I’ve done some really long rides with them and I’ve felt super comfortable and happy tbh. I’m glad you love yours too. Going back to a shimano spd would make me feel like I’m back in high school 😂

I have Shamano 6800 Ultegra Pedals and I can clip in and out on both sides. The right side is easy because I'm right hand dominant so this is wear? I snap out on my left pedal for shits and giggles only really. Looks like you have my group set. Looks like the same pedals... I don't get it why can't you click in and out on both sides? Is that an RS thing?
@swanauto473 жыл бұрын
I have an earlier model and it works like that cuz the base one is usually trickle down technology. As far as I know though the only shimanos you can clip in on both side are the mountain pedals. Something I’ve heard that helps too for the single sides ones is putting some WD-40 on the spindles too cuz they are sort of weighted.
@duncanwelch16882 жыл бұрын
It’s not left or right ‘pedals’. 🙂 With each Speedplay pedal you can clip in on the top or the bottom of that pedal.
@JoshMusicandVideos3 жыл бұрын
I probably started using speedplays as long as you and yeah, definitely needs some breaking in at first. I usually have my right foot clipped in all the time and it's an effort and a half to get my right foot out. Left foot on the other hand pops in and out easily after stopping on traffic lights so many times
@swanauto473 жыл бұрын
It’s definitely a pain at first. It’s almost necessary to have someone hold you up while clipping in and out or being on a trainer. I really do like the double sided actuation though. It makes it easier at lights like you said
@loiseaunoir10213 жыл бұрын
How many times did you fall to the ground when you started using them?
@swanauto473 жыл бұрын
None because my dad held the bike so I didn’t fall over😂

Still using them? What's the sensation/feel difference from shimano spd-sl's?
@db32293 жыл бұрын
Did you have to adjust your fit?
@swanauto473 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question, I dialed them in most of the way that you could because I’m used to an SPD-SL clear with probably 6 degrees of movement. So I did my best to mimic what I was used to

@@swanauto47 Yes but didn't your stack height / length change? Do you notice a difference in power transfer?

I just got the speed play competition with easy tension cleat and I am definitely struggling clipping in and out. My first try with them today. I only switched to them because wahoo bought them out and fixed the main issues and I thought because they were dual sided they would be easier than shimano styled pedals to clip in. Hopefully in the long run they ease up. How do you take off at an incline when you need momentum ?
@MJarthur953 жыл бұрын
I’ve now run these for 3000KM, running 0 float. Clipping in and out is super easy. You do need to grease the cleat (metal ring) with chain dry lube, quite frequently. If the cleats are dry or dirty forget it to be able to clip in or out
@Drushen073 жыл бұрын
@@MJarthur95 the box didn’t come with any dry lube . It was a small box from Wahoo. I didn’t see my bike fitter apply any either. Could this requirement have changed since Wahoo bought them. Regards Dru
@MJarthur953 жыл бұрын
@@Drushen07 SpeedPlays have always needed grease. Now that Wahoo has acquired SpeedPlay they have stamped on the inside of the cleat covers (in big letters) “USE DRY LUBE ROUTINELY ON SPRING”. Sadly companies will never ship lube in the box with pedals. These are things you have to buy separately. Also don’t forget running SpeedPlays dry causes excessive wear to the cleats and pedals. PS I use MucOff - Dry Lube, but any dry lube works. Kind regards MJ
@Drushen073 жыл бұрын
@@MJarthur95 Thanks for the assistance much appreciated. I will get the MucOff one. I do want to go back to the bike fit guys though to apply and test whether I can clip in with ease. Clipping out is okay. I got the easy tension cleat.

I have the Zeros just now, and there is no way I can clip in. So at the moment a bit confused. My foot just slips off the harder I push
@ericlanegen2 жыл бұрын
Hope you have this resolved by now but for anyone else: Grease with dry lube at the contact points between the cleat and the pedal. Then clip in and out a few times to help break them in.
@OldDavo19502 жыл бұрын
@@ericlanegen Still did not work, returned them. I think they were faulty. Got a full refund. Lost me forever has that experience. Will stick with Look.
@breannanobbs90932 жыл бұрын
Are you sure you didn't have the plates screwed in too tightly? I had that issue the first go, dialled the tension back on all the screws and then they were perfect. If they're too tight, they won't clip in at all, no matter how hard you push down.

You should at least resolve the issue which may be as simple as they are new and hard at first. Seriously doubt they were defective. Tips were given in the video and the comments. Maybe you are a paid Look influencer. Oh well.

I've been riding speedplays since 2001. Just ordered a new pair since you can't find cleats for my x pedals. I bought a pair of ultegra pedals a couple years ago on sale. Put them on my other bike. They might have 5 rides on them. Prefer speedplays hands down.i think you'll love them when you get used to them.
