LOL, thats a good question. I assume they have had their encounters, but not many, because to date, we had never had any of them even break away from one of our paddocks that are only one poly strand! Nice to see you around buddy!

What is the groove with the metal ball for that below Speedrite and above the remote screen?

Great video! Your demonstration of the remote makes it easy to understand the benefits. Two questions, 1. If you set the switch to half power output, does it lower the amps or lower the voltage, or both, as shown on your remote? In the product manual it just says "half power." (There is also a half voltage terminal, and the wording is clear regarding the half voltage, with regard to the terminal.) However the word half "power" (Joules) can mean reducing voltage or amps or both. 2. Do you find this one reasonable if people come in contact with it (neighbors, kids)? I usually use a 3J energizer and and 10kV is a useful voltage to get through the long fur of our alpacas especially in the dry summer. The 3J model has just enough power that it feels like all my muscles got hit by a truck but it won't knock me unconscious. :) I am tempted to upgrade to the 6000i because the remote would be super useful (the remote and LCD display is not available in the 3J model).

I contacted Datamars tech experts and got the answer to my question above. The half power switch setting drops the power output to 3J and cuts the voltage by about 25% on the full voltage terminal. This is a great feature!

It looks like you would have a bunch of smaller paddocks as well as some temporary poly. Question is how many miles would you think the fencer is running. They have a Speedrite 6000 at our local supplier not sure if it is remote or not. I will look at the price tomorrow and get pack to you. I am in Canada.

I think we have about 2-3 miles of fence if you were not to count the number of strands. That said, it says it can support up to 30 miles on the description of the energizer. The 6000 without the i does not support the remote. That is what the i means on them. Thanks for following our progress and many blessings!
