Against bosses, definitely. I think the Firewall does more damage throughout the run because there's always one active, but Meteor Shower *definitely* is the thing that let him kill the bosses so quickly for both runs.

especially since firewall does its damage over its lifetime, so 3400 damage over 10 secs means 340 damage every sec they spend IN the firewall.... but Meteor Shower is prob my fav skill... just such a huge AOE

@@Trevor21230 the main difference comes from normal mobbing, firewall is always active hurting small mobs so its damage builds up all the time, meteor shower is kinda rough on that department since it instantly just kills thing and takes a lot longer to actually shoot, but when it does shoot a larger target like the boss... it just melts them like... instantly

15:09 - "I don't love any of these" *casually passes up Expose Weakness which is a very broken upgrade... especially because you have Vicious Strikes and 30% crit* Even though you're basically killing everything quickly anyway, Expose Weakness is good against Alexi and killing it as fast as possible (because all effects happen twice. For anyone who doesn't get why that's awesome, imagine this plus a Doom build. You can literally kill Alexi from full health because you stack so much Doom so quickly that she dies immediately. But really, Expose Weakness plus any status effect build is busted.

I don't know if you have played the melee guy much but he has a super nice bleed build with the mace, you can take subdue which deals more damage for how much bleed the target has. You can also take poison strike and hope to get poisonous blood that has a chance for poison to also proc bleed. Take some area of effect and attack speed and you just bleed everything down super quick. As well Void or Baleful strikes are just always good. Previous videos you wondered why something just died when it was at like 20+% that was because of the doom stacks. Even on the boss if you stack enough doom he just dies it works like an execute. On the ranger with each arrow able to apply it you can kill stuff super quick.

Hey, one of the speedrunners from the community here, some of the top runs currently are around 6:30 -> 7:30, with my own Personal Best at 7:04 iirc. The meta is essentially Firewall, Void, Bloodlust, Icebolt, and two others that are up to how lucky you get, basically.

Fun fact about this game: The upgrades that affect all abilities of a certain type (melee, ranged, thunder, etc.) also apply to all abilities of that type you pick up in the future, not just the ones you already have.

I think the meteor shower is on par or even better the the fire wall since the meteor shower has big damage per meteor and it has multiple of those and then a big blast range that is if you upgrade it the same as fire wall

Critical potency increases your crit multiply. Can go from like x2 damage to x3 or higher. So working on something with an actual cap like crit strike chance and bringing it to 100, you can constantly multiply the damage you do with potency from there instead of adding just a small percent for a single skill

I had my 3rd game bug out such that the final boss disappeared completely but her AOE ground attacks kept triggering. So, 2 hours later I finally gave up, stood still and let the ground AOE chip me away. But, it is possible to get enough area of effect for each smite to cover the entire screen. Heh, bought all the upgrades not gated behind the coloured gems off that run, lol. Melee hammer guy gets OP once you have all the upgrades.

General damage upgrades are additive. Specific skill upgrades are multiplicative. Getting the specific skill upgrades push your damage into insano-mode levels of killing potential.

My best run with this was 14:10 I very early got the legendary that makes projectiles fire extra and stacked up all the targeted projectile skills and just melted elites and bosses. I had the basic arrow so it stacked fragility and I applied a lot of doom stacks so once the fragility got up high enough the doom got boosted to auto kill.

If you go and hold the bottom left corner of the map, enemies will spawn in much closer proximity to you which allows you to kill faster, and thus level up faster.

If you like getting big numbers I suggest playing: "Gunfire Reborn" It's a game on Steam which does cost a bit to buy, but it's a pretty good game. (Hidden gem) It's rogue like, but has the same mechanic as this game where you can unlock permanent upgrades after you win/lose. Can be played alone or with friends/randoms. Though with randoms it becomes a waiting simulator for 15mins. One match will take 30min to 1h+ depending if you like speedrunning. So it would definately be on the long side for a video in any case.

Skill upgrades appear to be multiplicative; they're definitely multiplicative with overall upgrades. Also, categorical(ie melee/area) upgrades work retroactively. It's best to stack those as much as possible. Pure melee builds are actually super strong. Smite is non-negotiable though--the heal is huge, especially when boosted by a crit.
