@@SpeedTutor haha... Actually, Yh... I spent the best part of the last year [on and off] creating a runtime procedural occlusion culling system that's fit for purpose in proc gen, its not Production Ready yet, but it would be cool to see an in depth on the new OC in U6. Be nice to see if they came up with a fluid interface for more designer types versus dev types using the engine for sure. Its pretty niche, but the concept sits inside of proc gen at runtime and then dynamic OC taking over once mesh generation is complete. There are a number of solutions out there of course but I have some special sauces in play for both CPU and mobile GPU based OC, but be nice to see a round up of whats coming in U6 for it out of the box instead of my more bespoke solution. Then I can dump it off and teach designers how to use that instead of my current 'a bit too complex for less programmery types' setup process. Maybe not worth the journey your end, as mentioned its somewhat pretty niche and might not attract the masses Anyway, Hope you are well and in the best of health ST - Carry on delivering them bangers!!

​@@SpeedTutor Before the advent of the upcoming U6 RC, procedural dynamic culling has been somewhat limited and the current project I'm working with relies heavily on procedural content generation [in particular in a VR space, with its limited processing power from the off] at runtime, which makes it pretty difficult to optimise OC [especially through Unity's internal tools alone, which relies on static meshes prior to runtime being in place and the consequent time it can take to bake the culling], let alone for designer types to implement it easily / in a user friendly way. The project itself looks to overcome this using a component that can be added to anything with mesh renderer components per object and then gets bundled into a graph which can be called and set after runtime has started and generation is invoked... actually it's super niche rn, but aiming to be scalable for large world higher fidelity games in VR with limited standalone systems such as Quest 2 and 3 platforms. I could go on forever about this, so I will stop waffling ha, but if U6 brings optimised dynamic culling that can be as efficient as static OC, then I might be able to leave it on the shelf and stop reinventing the wheel/ creating some interesting headaches ha. Always love your work bro, thanks for the deeper question

That's a very good question, aftermarket assets do offer that but it always seems to be missing. Doesn't it?

Can Unity URP render proper shadows now? I mean, last time that I tried it real-time shadows were terrible and I had to go back to BIRP to be able to use NGSS.

Guys just a question, i just started using unity if i make a game on the current version will i be able to open it using unity 6 if ever it came out? or i would need to remake my game?

I'd always recommend creating your game on the newest and latest LTS release, as it will be the most stable with the most bug fixes. You would be able to upgrade your existing project (Even if made in a previous version) to Unity 6 but I wouldn't recommend that because it can introduce it's own problems :) Doesn't mean you can't but just be aware of that. I hope that helps.

Wow unreal is still at 5.4 and Unity is already at 6! We can clearly see they are more advanced, I mean, at least 10% more advanced if we look at those numbers!

I'm curious if the character in the video's thumbnail is an actual product or is it just an AI's imagination of a possible character? I've not seen him before. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It was just part of the play on words from the title, in regards to alpha and beta. So the character is just a generation to represent it. If that makes sense :)

the unity 6 beta was giving me a hard time. It will crash and freeze my computer whenever i try to build the project, event if its a brand new project with nothing in it. Hope this is fixed in the preview. I have a relatively new and beefy computer. I think they are not tune to the newest cpu...and cause the shader to crash..

They've just taken on a new CEO with a long track record in the games industry from fairly big companies and they did the restructure of the entire company to focus on the core of the engine again. I hope they'll stick to that plan and continue to do so. As we always say, only time will tell but things have been slowly heading in the right direction. I hope it isn't one step forward and two steps back :)

@dabmaster6874 Has anything actually changed for 99% of Unity users? My experience is literally the same as it was before and after the "damage", and I imagine that's the case for almost everyone else. Reminds me of when people were saying that they were going to move to canada when trump got elected, but nobody did, and nothing changed. Same old sh*t.

@@SpeedTutor Sorry for the late reply, I've lately used Unity Version that was literally broken when it comes to materials, sound, editor, building/exporting, URP, and performance. Everyone on the team I work for faced those same troubles. I'm really hoping that Unity 6 will change the engine into something good in general and not bloated/filled with bugs. Also, some more free built-in tools of high quality can bring many of the people who left. But for now, many people including myself are drifting away from the engine if it keeps stagnating and making bad decisions.

Exactly! :) It only comes into play but at a cap of 2.5% after you make $1,000,000 in the last 12 months :)

Enabling render graph for URP just causes errors for me... stuff does not even render. Had to enable render graph in deubg settings in the global settings under graphics because global settings wouldnt even show up normally in the graphics tab. Broken.

I occasionally use midjourney if I want to represent something in the thumbnail towards my theme, and I just go with a style of "Fortnite". I hope that helps :)

2023.3 would have been an LTS release, not a tech stream. Tech stream is technically what the .1 releases were.

They said in their forum post that they wanted to do an additional tech stream for 2023.3 which is renamed as this preview build. They said it caused confusion otherwise :)

@@SpeedTutor Sure, yeah.. just seemed odd to me that suddenly we were referring to the .3 builds as tech stream when they've been LTS for a while now. I guess we'll neve get a 2023 LTS as it is in the new world, which is sort of silly in my opinion, but it's not my circus.

I think you're correct there, 2023 in this case is gone. Unity 6 is what it is. The Circus never ended, haha.

They did change their standing on it all. I've got a full video on the new fees. You have to learn over $1,000,000 before paying a limited fee.

I can understand that you'd be dubious and ultimately it's your decision on what works for you :) They did change on the fee front and have set out to be more engine focused. So hopefully that does come true :)
