nice work Josh, it would be very nice to have the crank and cam trigger selection separate so you can select for example 36-1 crank and stock cam trigger (4g63). And a setting for angle separation between the 2 trigger pattern.

Only feature I can think of is a wizard to create new trigger wheel patterns. I have an engine with a weird pattern and it’s just now kinda building support. But it could be a good feature for future variations.

Josh, thank you! I bought one of these years ago when I bought the whole kit and caboodle with Speeduino and ran into the same headaches with NPM. I've always been fairly persistent with debugging and finding solutions in situations where there's not much to find online in terms of fixes, but in the case of Ardustim this was where the progress paused. Video saved!

I'd like to be able to use this software on 1 cylinder 2 and 4 stroke engines. A software tool that would create a a custom slotted tooth output CAD output-file(s) with control of where the Key phasing with the missing-tooth angle/position would BE AWESOMELY helpful, forever!

Looks sweer! It would be good to be able to generate a vss signal. As well as being able to store the config.

The config gets stored already, so that should all be OK. VSS is a good suggestion though, I don't think it would be too hard to add either.

I would like to use a speeduino ECU in my now project, but I have two main concerns with the processing. First, I'd like to be able to use the hardware and software on different engines (mainly V6, V8, V10 and possibly V12). Second, I am replacing the camshaft with electronically controlled pneumatic actuators and I need those to be controlled based on a combination of crankshaft sensor signal and logic (no camshaft signal, obviously). Additionally, eventually I'd like this to mature into a commercial product (to accompany my main product, cylinder heads with pneumatically actuated valves). Is it possible to add processors to run in parallel? Extra memory? Can a solenoid signal be controlled from this board (perhaps with some modification)? I'm not trying to make a better camshaft (for those who object that THAT can't be done) but have other reasons for pursuing this route.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, this used on a second Arduino to simulate an engine's sensor output to test the speeduino ECM? Im trying to decide if this is useful for my project or not. Obviously i could wire up dummy solenoids to represent the injectors and coils and verify the drivers are working, but does it help with setting actual parameters since I'm not getting any actual feedback from the engine on how it responds to settings?

Yep, that's exactly the idea. It's useful for testing hardware as you can input these signals to your board and ensure that you are getting valid outputs. It's not intended to be responsive to fuel/ignition outputs though, so it's not a tuning device, more just for hardware testing and/or FW development.

This may be completely outside the scope of the Speeduino programming, but I have an old GM 6.5 turbo Diesel which I would like to replace the computer that came with it. It seems to have two PWM outputs to drive injector volume and timing. It uses multi Pedal position(TPS) inputs(redundant?). It also has transmission inputs, and sensors. Any possibility to make one work for this application?

Last time I used Ardustim when developing for Mazda rotaries (2004 & later) it was confusing which of the patterns to use. There are two that are very similar but will cause problems if the wrong one is selected. It’s been a while. I can’t remember the details.. It would be great if that was fixed, just needs a comment. I’m thinking of getting involved again.

The problem there is that there are 2 different (But very similar) patterns that Mazda used on those Renesis engines. I believe they switched them in 2009. One of the next steps is getting the documentation for this improved and if we can start to list things like which pattern should go with each model year, that would be a big help.

Most of the patterns that have a cam sensor as well as a cam one will work sequentially. Missed Tooth + Cam and Dual Wheel are by far the most common, but there are some OEM wheels (Eg the 4g63 / Miata) pattern that work sequentially also.

@@Speeduino wow, I feel very happy that you answered me, I am doing a swap with a honda k24a8 engine with blocked vtec and blocked cvt and espeeduino does not have the oem profile, so I made it a 12 tooth crank wheel and a cam wheel of 1 tooth, but I can't synchronize it. But I'm better going to make the wheel that you recommend, if possible, thank you very much, then I will send you a video of how it turned out in full sequential. thank you

Absolutely, the main thing to check is that the trigger pattern you want to use is included.

There's support there for the GM7X crank trigger already, but not with the cam. I'll add it to the list to get looked at, I'll just need to dig up an accurate timing chart showing the alignment between crank and cam signals.

@@Speeduino Is there support for the 7x gm crank and 4x gm cam (same as the ls) here is why i ask. The 4200's had a few changes over the years with cam and crank reluctor wheels, the early 02-05 had the 6 tooth cam and 7 tooth crank however the later 06-09 engines came with the same 58x crank as the ls and 4x cam also same as the ls (the 2 motors began to share the same ecu at 06) however the 02-05 cranks have 4 more counter weights and the 06-09 heads are far better with bigger ports valves and cam. The early crank with later head is the optimum combo so would they be able to run together with the speeduino? Here a great video on them : kzbin.info/www/bejne/foHIqoppj9aKZ6M
