Remember watching this must have been 11pm. It got me hooked on speedway. My local track was hackney. Such a lot of amazing riders. The competition was fierce. John Louis finishing last !! What a rider he was. Eric boocock 2 last places then one year later he wins the British final against probably one of the strongest fields ever !! Just incredible 50 years ago. Yes the starts were a lottery but amazing racing and I just hope a pray speedway can survive. Another reason me and my friends went was the football violence was at its peak. Somehow I don’t know what will happen but these old videos are fantastic. Loved simmo rip such a class rider. Also had the pleasure of seeing Barry briggs at hackney 1974 / 75. What a competitor he is.

From the days when the riders wore their boots over the leathers, upright handlebars and no silencers. Bliss.

Brought back great memories of this era, as an Oxford cheetahs fan I always loved (probably the wrong word) Hasse Holmquist, he was never a " great rider but capable of beating the best on the night, him and Ovind Berg Sandy Lane such memories, thank you guys.

Come on! I watched Terry Betts since around 1970 for the stars, one of the most under rated British riders ever I think? How Stars never won the title with Bettsy, Mike the Bike, Dave Jessup and Tich Turner in the team I will never know!

Totally agree the Stars had an awesome team that season

If you look at it, Michanek held his line whereas Collins tried to shut the door too late, Collins at fault imo.
