I think you have the right to judge books by their covers.
There. I said it.
Why? Because of the wonder and joy you feel when you pick up a book that catches your eye. There's something that speaks to you directly. You might decide to make it face out on your shelf, like a piece of art with a story inside.
Graphic designers like me are hired to inspire those feels!

They way you discribed the three body problem reminded my of Michael Crichton's writing style. Sci-fi with a *heavy* emphasis on the science.
