Hey man, Wayne B here. I can make a couple of comments here to help out a little. First, when you are zeroing out your gains in FM3 so you don't have gyro effect, another was to do it is in the place for setting up the FM switch, on FM3 you can inhibit the gyro. same result just another way to do it. Second, setting the adjustable gain to a knob is for people who don't really know where to set the gain. so on a first flight, you take off with the knob on zero gain and fly it. then in flight you increase the knob to get the gain you like without it hunting. then you land and execute that capture gyro gain feature and that will set the gains to where the knob was and then change your gain setting to fixed. Great tutorial for people who are just starting out with the as3x

1. You had to do the flight mode channel setup twice because you put the gain channel on the channel and switch you had set up for the flight modes. You were supposed to select another channel and assign the knob to it. 2. For some reason, Spektrum doesn’t take you through the flight mode channel setup until you do the first time SAFE mode setup. 3. You don’t need to go to the channel assign menu beforehand. The two channel setup menus will let you choose the channels and also select the switches to control the channels. 4. If you don’t set up a gain channel, you must set the AS3X gains to “Fixed”. Otherwise, the AS3X gains will be zero. 5. To see what the gains actually are in real time, go to the capture gains screen. But don’t tell it to capture the gains unless you want them to be written to memory and the gains set to fixed.

how low and high rates are added from forward programming? tks

High and low rate Gains for gyro. More gain more stable, but can shake if too high. Low gain, low flight assistance. Too low , plane will not be locked in. Put all Gains for aileron , elevator and rudder on one switch. I use switch G. You can assign that switch in Forward programming, system set up. Set the aileron gain first, then it’s done. Then set the elevator gain , then it’s done. Then set the rudder gain. Just focus on the ailerons for the first flight. Get the gain up as high as it can go without shaking the wings back and forth. Set two numbers under that number for medium and low gains. That’s how you do it.

@@CoeShow619 Thanks, the throws of the control surfaces at 100 percent are too high for my skill. I usually have them in 60 percent or less. that is why my question. I want to user lower throws but with the advantage of as3x and safe. As per your response, if i undertand correctly, if i use low rate i kind of defeat the purpose of safe and as3x because they use the 100 percent of the rates. any additional advice? thanks for your response.

@@alexherrera3918 use the D/R dual rate / expo function in the radio itself for rates. Instead of taking away from 100% throw, try using 40% expo on all surfaces, aileron, elevator and rudder. If you take away rate of throw, you are taking away from control surfaces. So if you use expo, you just slow down the action in the middle of the stick throws. And if you give full stick input, you would have 100% rates. If you must turn down the rates, use the d/r function. Always use some positive expo. It helps keep the twitchiness from your thumbs from being seen.

You set your flight modes and gains to the same channel that uses a three-position switch? I understand the flight modes, but how do you adjust your gains?
@CoeShow6192 жыл бұрын
In forward programming, or if you mean tail gyro gain, in gyro menu with Aux 2 assigned as my channel on the gyro screen and channel assignment. I have 3 tail gains for each headspeed. I have 3 head gains for each headspeed.

Shizzle. I was thinking this was my heli video. Flight mode switch can be any 3 position switch. I use switch G for gains and switch B is dual rates. You adjust the gains in forward programming with the model bound and on. The forward programming shows up in the menu with an updated radio and the airplane on.

Did you say Tom Conkle has videos on setting up safe mode? I'm not sure if I spelled his name correctly. Thanks for making the video! I'm setting up a new receiver and that helped. I appreciate it!

More confused than enlightened…not sure what we gained … pun intended. Not sure what “gain” is. Not much of the other choices are or mean. Will study with each project. Thanks anyway. Being old does not help much either…78
