Can't say how much this video has helped. A young man 14 yrs old, a club member got an Apprentice for Christmas and text me to ask if could buddy box his new aircraft. I got a DX9 for Christmas. Followed your video and bound to my DX8 and one of my models. Perrrrrrrrrrrrrect. This wireless setup is just the best. Going flying tomorrow to help my little buddy. Thanks for sharing.

Oops. I figured it out. I forgot to set the correct trainer switch. I used switch A. Thanks for the video. It's actually a lot easier than it sounds.

I should have just said you skipped letting us know the Direct Access is a new feature that some may not be aware of. Great video and info, I'm on the preorder list and I own a DX18. Again many thanks for all you do!!!

Robert, I just finished watching your DX9 Review, and then went and joined the Support Group. I am not a great radio programmer. And it seems like someone who can handle a DX8 should have no trouble with the 9. But this old man is having a tough time. I sure do appreciate your videos and help.

I am our club trainer/examiner and regularly buddybox newbies. I have had DX6i, DX7, DX8 tx and have hundreds of flight hours with these radios. The only time I have experienced radio problems is when someone is using a cheap orange receiver. My current fleet of aircraft numbers 25 fixed wing and 5 helis all with spektrum radio and I have never had a problem.

Just wanted to comment and say thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Incredibly informative. I really appreciate and most importantly can't wait to get my DX9!!!!!

Thanks for a really great review of the DX9. I actually paused the video half way through to order one. The headphone socket will be really useful to me Greg as my hearing is slightly impaired, so now I won't need to worry about not hearing the timer. Happy flying! Greg.

THIS WAS REALLY GREAT! I LOVE MY DX9. I BOUND IT TO A DX4 AND ALMOST EVERYTHING WENT PERFECTLY. THE DX4 I FOUND HAD THE THROTTLE REVERSED. LUCKILY, WHEN I SWITCHED IT TO "STUDENT HAS CONTROL" IT ONLY WENT 2 FEET INTO MY RECLINER! COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD.... THANKS AGIN!!!!!

great stuff, when I first saw the wireless buddy box I expected additional costs, but this actually acts as a gateway for any other spektrum radio, so easy!

Very Correct. As you can see in the video, I actually used that feature. However, if you want to skip those 2 steps when first turning on your radio because you need to go directly to the system menu, you can simply hold the roller down for direct access when turning on the radio. Thanks for stopping in man. Appreciate the comment! ~~Robert.

You are right to a point. I do notice that the guys at my field keep their radios in a locked case around me now. LOL.. Like anything out there though, if used the wrong way by the wrong person, the coolest things can be seen in a negative light. Believe me, when I did the prank to Kenny, I picked his T28. I had a BRAND NEW one in a box ready to give him if I screwed up. And I already had his Settings in my radio. But yeah, Keep your Radio locked around me, muhahaha.. Thanks man !~~Robert

You no longer have to hold the select button and power up to get to the systems menu. It has Direct System Access from the main menu like the DX18.

I'd love to know: are the gimbals any better than the DX8 ones? I think the DX8 gimbals aren't that great. And how about electronics, is that comparable to DX8 or is it more like DX18? I'd greatly appreciate any response to that ;) Great video (apart from the off-width thing)
@RCRedBaron11 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have the 2 radios about 4 to 6 feet apart. Having them too close to each other, just your aircraft, can cause bind issues. ~~Robert.

Only the Master Radio has to be wireless. The slave radio can be any dsm2 or dsmX radio. It binds to the Master Wireless like it was a normal receiver. It thinks its binding to a plane basically. It doesnt know its another radio. Only the master wireless radio has a separate binding section to bind up to the slave.

I now have both a DX9 and the iX12 radios. I use the iX12, and want my son (student), to use the DX9. So is it possible to have the DX9 in slave mode from the iX12?
@rtoebak764 жыл бұрын
Youre binding your dx9 to the plane and trainer to dx4. Its your plane and dx9. But i want it the other way around. The dx4 is owner of the plane and the dx9 needs to be master. Is that all done with those digital dipswitches? My friend flies a helicopter with ix12 and own helicopter. I bind to his transmitter with dx6i, but i can make it master and all controls he has, i have? What about throttle on a helicopter, when his is way past half stick and mine is below, i take control and the helicopter slams into the ground? Im not liking this, but perhaps you could explain.

Great video, Mr Robert. I've watched it as least 6 times and was binding it to my apprentice 15e for wireless training but am having problem with the .SAFE Technology. Lost bind on first flight , but no harm to AC. I've red and researched everything but can't seem to get it right.. You seem to be very knowledgeable on the dx9 so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.. Lee Vestal;

Hello Robert. Great video. Thank you. I can't quite figure out how to program the DX9 to say "Instructor has control" when I move a stick. The transmitter does vibrate when a stick is moved but no voice. Thanks, David

My brand new dx9 was 6 hours into the initial charge out of box, when it turned on and off by itself over and over again. I quickly took video, do I have to give this back to Santa ? Dx6 I have had pretty good luck with but this new 9 has me scared. Only 6 hours in. It would not turn on out of the box ...please help. Want to see the video?

i think it works 2 ways ,,some Spectrum flyers wont like it ,their dx8 or other can be hijacked by a prankster at any given time i foresee big problems if expensive models crash due to a prank by a pilot with lots of humor ,but not your flyingskills i liked your prank ,,but not if it was my helicopter,and another guy doing it
@lordfudgepuppet11 жыл бұрын
The only thing you need to know about spektrum radios is stay away.. watch some utube vids on rc planes you will always hear i lost radio failer. Very common with spektrums product.

You should tag your video with: "yt:stretch=16:9" It'll make your video the proper aspect ratio. Right now, the video looks stretched vertically (or compressed horizontally) and it makes things look weird. You have a video in 720×480, which is 3:2 aspect ratio (1.5:1) but you want it to be 16:9 (1.78:1). support.google.com/youtube/answer/146402?hl=en
