Hello hope your having a great Father's day, just wanted to pass along something I discovered using my hot spot to connect with my NX 8 transmitter we had chatted before on this and I found that disabling the password on my hot spot was the fix on my cellphone so just a FYI for you ,my hot spot didn't like using a password everything is updated and working well thanks for your help with Happy Flying 😀

I have followed the steps in your video for my NX-8 TX. I can get as far as connecting to the WIFI, then when scrolling down to the "Check for Updates" it skips over that selection to "Disconnect" and shuts down. I have tried several times and get the same results, it just won't let me get into the update position. What is wrong?

One of the issues fixed. Wifi had several issues addressed in new update. Some radios have to be updated with USB or Card...

When I get to selecting the WiFi selectionI want to use there are 4 selections, MTV, the old Telephone Modem WiFi and my network but there are 2 of my Wifi networks listed. I have tried either one of my listed networks which are the same name but get the same results as before. Unable to select the Update selection. I'm befuddled. Is there a way to de-select a WiFi listed on the transmitter? I don't know if that may be the issues but my son is here and he is a computer expert and he can't do any better than I have.

Finally after numerous attempts, finally got past the eternal “thumbs twiddling “ and got the update done. Hopefully it fixes the numerous problem with my NX10. If you have a DX9 do not upgrade to the NX series. Glad I kept my DX9 as a backup. Hopefully soon I can get a VBar and be rid of Spektrum and Horizon forever.

Once you get radio updated ,its good equipment. I have owned several and setup multiple NX for others with out issue.Sometimes there is small issues that owners have occurred.

@@BDTennessee Small issues can bring down a helicopter pretty quick. Now the I have the update done, I was programming throttle curves for one of my helicopters when something very peculiar happened, The numbers I programmed in all 3 modes, suddenly changed on their own to a bunch of random numbers and while I was trying to figure out what happened they all changed back to what I had set. If that happened during a flight, it would not be good. I have some pretty expensive models programmed in to this transmitter that I cannot put at risk.

I agree small issues can mess you up.However the updates were mostly user improvements. Values only change when a condition is changed (ie switch moved,flight mode changed,etc). @@BDTennessee Thanks but I think it’s a waste of time, warranty has expired and I’m not paying to fix it. Would rather put the money into buying a better quality transmitter. When a flat curve set at 80% suddenly goes to: 25-57-32-74-61 without touching a switch, that’s a serious problem. Appreciate the help but this thing is going in the trash.

Normally do just the last update.Nx first released updates were suppose to be done in order. Now just update to 3.12

Just as you said my battery died during update-- ugh---and it seemed to lock up. I downloaded updates to a SD card 1 at a time and did a hard boot up-- all seemed to take-- thank god

It took me 5 times to get it to download and kept saying disconnected and kept trying and then it finally dowloaded idk passwords and all login is good but its not that easy to get this to update but after many tries it finally says download

Hey bud. I'm trying to update a friend's radio. Every thing is good far as wifi. After I hit check for updates , it will show the available updates, but when I hit the the 4.00 update it automatically disconnects me. Do u have any idea of what is going on with this.

so what do you do when you try to update, you can get into wifi and it says success- then you scroll down to "check for updates" and the list is blank and the radio locks up every single time? i have to pull the battery to hardboot it. would love to get to the most current firmware as i am running 3.06.02

Check to see if you have latest firmware.

I had the same issue. I discovered that the current version of Firmware loaded on your TX can be found if you go to "System Set up". Then scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "About/Regulatory". There you will find the serial number for the TX and below that will be the version of the firmware your TX is running. As of today, 01/06/2025 the latest version for the NX8+ is 4.00A. If you have that firmware version loaded, you will see it listed under the serial number. The scroll wheel will then skip over "UPDATE" because there is not a newer version of firmware to download. I am pretty sure I am correct, but I have not confirmed my suspicions with Spektrum CS. Good Luck....

Hi BD Tennessee. Yes I did but if I set it back to hidden it can't find it anymore. So I think if I need the wi-fi on the NX8, I have to take it out of the hidden mode. thanks for thinking along I really appreciate it.

Just received my new NX8 and when I try installing the newest update which is 3.06 I believe it goes to the spectrum screen with status bar and then just flashes off and on and the status bar never moves? It says I have the 3.03 firmware

Issue is updating from 3.03 to 3.06 You will need to install 3.05 first if its in the radio or use the PC method to install update.Before you install updates from PC to SD card delete the 3.06 file on the SD card that it was attempting to install from Wifi.

Mine just sits at the Wifi Settings (Thumb Twiddling) "Loading" Screen forever when Trying to Login or Register and I don't have access to the Check for updates screen. Not sure but I have a blue light connected to the wifi.

Make sure radio is logged into your account and registered. If you still have issues. Get the radio close to your router.

I havent had that issue. 2 things i would try. 1) Getting closer to router. 2) Check and see current firmware. Latest at this time is 3.06

Probably went from 3.04 or older update straight to 3.06? Thats a issue currently.Normally dont have to do in order... Spektrum has this posted on the website...

@@BDTennessee I got it fixed I had to revert to the previous version via the sd card and then plug the card in and hit the power button and then it started to upload and now its running great and I then did again the newest version and its all good. I was getting so pissed and now im back in business. Thanks for everything.

Can you update the firmware with the NX-8 transmitter being charged using the WiFi mode? Or does it have to be using the charged battery in the transmitter?

Try plugging the charge cable in.Green light should appear. Might be dead battery.

Need to delete out the old networks. Also the BNF templates info is messed up currently. SD card method,download update from your Spektrum account,insert card in NX6,then power up...

it was probably the wrong size 64gb C10 I gave up and sent the transmitter back to Horizon

After getting the WiFi signal and it said "connected to the network". After a few minutes the system puts up the message error code 2. and shuts down completely.

I havent tried it but i think you would be able too.Only difference in wifi and mobile hotspot is the source and device. Home internet from router and Phone data internet from mobile device. Hotspot will probably take longer as the speeds are slower.

Hi BD, I hope you can assist. Did a update to the latest Spektrum NX version. This resulted in issues with: - Audio now is slow and it is like it stutter - NX 8 closed down very slowly when I turn off - In some cases the text cannot follow the roller Any solutions. I installed the old 3.03 - but issues are still there

This was not easy at all. First you have to download in to a memory card in Spektrums website.. You do not mention that. And I am struggling to fins my radio in there. I have the NX8, but only NX8+ is coming up. Big issue if you ask me. Bur very nice you make these videos.

Update in this tutorial was done with WiFi not SD card and is the reason its not mentioned. However i do have a newer video i did updated with SD card. NX8 and NX8+ is same radio updates. Difference is NX8+ came with preinstalled update to unlock 20 channels and NX8 is older version that has to be updated to that version.

My NX8 was about 4 updates behind when I unboxed it. I downloaded 3.05 first followed by 3.06. Did I need to download updates before 3.05 or did that update bundle up the previous updates?

3.05 will take care of previous updates. Install 3.05 then install 3.06 and your up to date :)

How do I enter my password after entering it? I enter all the letters, but can't find a way to enter the p/w into the log in page. the manual doesn't explain it.

Click on network. Next screen enter password and back out and then push connect.It says what you typed in and puts the asterics so someone cant see password.

@@BDTennessee 1. Select network 2. put in p/w. 3. click on "back" 4. Goes to log in page with a blank p/w line. 5. Click on "Connect" 6. P/w line stays blank, and the screen eventually says "Authentication error." This is a new radio.

@@bricestultz1724 if the password doesnt have a line of asterics it didnt accept. Also the passwords are case sensitive. Some people have reported issue with doing it over wireless.I have done several radios and no issues tho

@@onapproachrc5471 so its not connected to a signal.When your connected to wifi or mobile hotspot the signal logo will illuminate blue. Thats why you cant log in to Spektrum cause radio isnt connected to online.
